You could be right, but I think it was more like a string of bad luck for Momo, and I really think JYP did what he thought was right in the moment, not as a part of a bigger plan. It's true that ChaeMoJi weren't the most popular team, but they were the most "purely talented" - like, their talents were very chrystalized - and I think he made that team to see if they could work together instead of standing apart and doing their own thing. Plus, perhaps he wanted to see if their talent could sway people to their "side"? But I think the biggest doubt I have about this is that question of "why"? He clearly liked her dancing enough to bring her back from elimination, making more room in the group for 9 members instead of 7. So why deliberatetly break down one of the trainees that was one of the best in her field, only to then bring her onto the team Anyway? completely changing the "rules" just so you could add her back. And if we're going really dark here, why deliberately eliminate her so Early then? If he really wanted to torture her, he could have kept her on for more episodes, breaking her spirit even more. Anyway, we'll never know what really happened on the show, and Momo seems to be doing fine now. But I agree that it was heartbreaking to see her confidence plummet with every challenge. It was interesting to see your point of view! :)

There was no reason, even within the context of the show, to have Natty beat Momo. His goal was to create the next JYP girl group. Now, if this show were different and the purpose was to find new JYP trainees, yes, pick Natty. So either JYP lost focus as to what the purpose of this show was OR it was intentional. His justifications for creating each team also didnβt make any sense because the Chaeyoung/Jiwon/Momo team was BY FAR the least popular. He knew the ranks of each SIXTEEN member and still chose the teams he did and was surprised when the least popular overall group lost, resulting in either the best vocalist, rapper or dancer being eliminated.

2023-03-15 23:10:43 +0000 UTCI agree that Momo's confidence was really shot after SIXTEEN, but I really don't think JYP himself intended on "breaking her down", he wasn't even particularly harsh with her, not moreso than with other contestants. Really the only time he said "you can definitely do better" was in the first Mission (at least when it comes to dancing). In the 1 v 1 battle, he said that she would have Won if she was up against anyone but Natty, he praised Momo a alot, it just happened that Natty did better. And in this Team Mission his opinion was that Momo's team did better (at least in the first round). Her even getting in the position of maybe getting eliminated was 100% up to the audience, if it were up to JYP that wouldn't have happened. He Really didn't want to eliminate her, but compared to Chae and Jiwon, Momo had the most to work on. The entire team was 90% perfect, but the others were at 91% and Momo was at 89%, so she had to go. I really don't see him trying to Break her and make her lose confidence, that would make no sense either; why would he want to destroy his own trainees?

At the LA Encore show she said "Father (JYP)" and then either I love you or something like I miss you. Either way he is her IDOL. and we can never forget her yelling at her father during the whisper game. She has growth and admiration for JYP.

2023-03-14 05:21:39 +0000 UTCIt is my strongly held belief that JYP spent the entirety of Momoβs time on SIXTEEN trying to break her and make her lose confidence in herself. And it worked. He KNEW he wasnβt going to debut Natty but kept having Momo lose to her. It literally took YEARS for Momo to get back to the same level of confidence she had in the pre-interviews. Watching this live was the most heartbreaking thing.
