I mean, if the translater gets it wrong, it doesn't matter if it's spoken or written out right ? In the end there's always going to be things lost in translation and sometimes even things added to inform the viewer of the context to understand what's being said - Think something that is specific to the culture of origin, that everyone there would understand, but outside of it you'd need to either eexplain it or change it to something that would be understood there.
The endless sub or dub debate will always rage on, though ^^ I prefer the sub, because voice acting has really high standards in Japan, so you can be sure that they get the voice inflections right. But other than that, there's some really good Dubs out there and there's so many reasons why someone would just want to understand the things they hear, so i never saw the point of telling other people to suck it up and go read the subs.
Sadly, the Netflix translation that came out way after the fan translations is way worse. You would assume Netflix could afford to pay a bit more for it.
Speaking of which though, i might want to check what the line was in the dub. I remember being quite pleased with the english dub for Violet Evergarden. I wonder if the spoken translation is better than the written, that would be odd...

There's an OVA (https://myanimelist.net/anime/37095/Violet_Evergarden__Kitto_Ai_wo_Shiru_Hi_ga_Kuru_no_Darou) that is recommended to be watched after episode 4 and before 5. Btw I thought the ED song came out of nowhere here too, because it's not like that in the BD version I watched lol.

@SpaceMonkey
That's interesting, I guess in a sense that's why I have an issue with subtitle translations in anime. The voice actors are cool and all. But I have an issue with understanding certain Jorggins , And I'm often critized for watching dubbed even though I feel like sometimes, they do a good job of conveying meaning.
Orrrrrr......Probably not. I dont know.
