Screenshots: 'What Ethical AI Really Means'

Hello lovely patrons! Editing on the next episode is nearly done, so here are some screenshots for you! I'm aiming to release on the 13th of October: Nebula subscribers will get to  see it early, as will $15+ Patrons!

We'll be talking about AI and ethics, so of course we need to cover the Alignment Problem! As you'll see though, I have a new take on it...

This is one of my favourite jokes in the video lol, and it was also one of the first things I wrote for this episode

We'll be talking a little about digital epidermalization too, a very interesting concept from the philosophy of surveillance

I just grabbed this cause it's a funny frame lol

This look goes so hard on camera, I'm so pleased!

I didn't think that a red lip that bright would suit me, but Nicki persuaded me and gosh darn it she was right!

This is one of my favourite types of shot, where I'm by the makeup table and you get to see a little of how the show is made! I'll be talking in detail about how certain aspects of the show come together - you'll find out why!

I ad-libbed something very cheeky and it made me giggle!

OH GOD. Kelly Slaughter is back with another horrible company!

I'm so proud of how the editing in the Kelly section came together: after Nicki applied this very glowy and plasticy makeup look I downloaded a skin smoothing plugin for Final Cut Pro and turned it up just a tiny bit too high, to make Kelly look "fake." Although in this moment she seems to be caught in a rare bit of introspection...

This is my big surprise for the Kelly section haha, I commissioned an animator to bring her dystopian vision to life! It's one of the most awful things I think I've ever seen, lol!

Kate Crawford's book was a big source for the final and most important section of the video

I think this is genuinely my favourite look we've done this year. We've done so much glam and glitz, it was nice to do something super stripped back, something anti-glam, something unexpected!

Also, selfish moment but I don't think I've ever been happier with my body. I've been training hard for a TV role, and it shows - I'm so proud of that bicep vein, hahaha!

All that's left now is the subtitles! This episode is gonna be a strong one, I'm looking forward to sharing it with you!

I watched the video on Nebula; it was great, thanks! I have the urge to report a minor factual error: You quoted Kate Crawford: "Rechargable lithium-ion batteries are essential for [...] data center backup power". This is completely wrong. Battery-based backup power as used in data centers and the physical backbone of the internet relies on lead-acid batteries like you would have in a car or truck. My guess is that this is mostly because operators of those infrastructures are extremely conservative, but it might also be cheaper, and lead-acid batteries are certainly less prone to catch on fire and far easier to extinguish.

Watched it on Nebula, brilliant as always. I work for an organisation which has stated they want to be AI powered... Had my concerns about this, but they have multiplied significantly now. The de-skilling of workers is already happening and it's only going to get worse.
