I went to a YouTubey-business thing yesterday with a bunch of other creators, the sort of event where we sit around and talk about how our channels are doing, plans for the future, best practices and stuff.
I was reminded how amazingly lucky I am to have all of you on Patreon supporting me. Occasionally I just have to make something that's "content" to keep it all going, but most of the time I genuinely look at what I do as being like art. But for a lot of other creators, everything they make is Content: a lot of people are running around trying to master TikTok, or wondering how they'll attract more brands to their channel, or fretting about getting demonetised, and I was just like, "Wow, thank god for the patrons!" A lot of people have suddenly changed how they interact with me now that the channel is knocking on the door of half a million subscribers, and people are asking about "capitalising on growth" and "five year plan" - I don't have a five year plan so much as a desire to keep creating good art; stuff that nobody else can do. As long as I have enough to survive and pay rent as I do that then I'm not especially fussed whether the channel is growing or not! Hbomberguy said a while ago on stream that I had surpassed him in subs and to be honest I didn't even notice until he said it - I barely ever look at sub or view counts or my analytics, and I like it that way. I'm very lucky to be able to work like that.
So this is an extra special thank you from me to you. Not only do you allow me to keep doing this amazing job, but you allow me to do it in the best possible way that I can imagine.
