Korrasami Strap-On V1 & V2 (Work in Progress)

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing well with this whole pandemic thing. I know this thing has made daily life quite complicated for some of us, but fear not, we'll get through it ^^

I've had an incredibly busy month, work wise and personal wise. I've got some pieces lined up, so you can expect a lot of posts next week ;)

Anyways, here's the work in progress for this piece. This one is also one of my more popular pieces, I've noticed.

First I started off with the rough sketch. I was taking a bit of a risk here, because the client initially wanted something just a bit more straight forward, but to me it felt a little to boring, so I added a lot more perspective and foreshortening. Thankfully, he was happy when he saw it.

Next I did the final linework and base colours. I also just added the main background colour that I'd be using throughout the piece.

Here I added the basic shadows and more colour to the background. This is where the tone of the piece starts to take shape.

Here's where I added some of the warm light that fills the entire room, and also defined more of the background.

Then after some cleaning up and more defining, the piece is almost done, with exception to the final details.

I really loved working on this piece, but I had some trouble when I sent it to the client. He forgot to mention that he wanted Korra to be wearing a corset. This was never in the original description of the piece. Obviously, this made me very angry, as they already saw that she wasn't wearing one in the rough sketch, yet said nothing. I wanted to really lay it on him, but after taking a couple hours break to cool down, I decided it wasn't worth it. I vocalised my frustration rationally, as I still felt that I was being taken advantage of a bit, but I still agreed to do the corset version without asking for extra payment.

So what I'm trying to say is that there are going to be instances while working with clients where things don't always go as planned. I try to be as professional as I can in those instances, but obviously it's not always easy. Thankfully most of the clients that I've had to deal with are very friendly and understanding people, so when I make a mistake, they are very gracious. It all comes with the territory, I guess.

Anyways, I hope all have a great day! There will be some HD posts coming very soon, so stay tuned!
