Korra Spirits (Work in Progress)

Hey everyone!! Here's the work in progress for this piece. Enjoy ;)

First I started off with the rough drawing. For this piece I really wanted emphasize her muscular physique and nice curves.

Here I did the final linework and base colours. I decided to ad the blue in the background because I wanted the setting to be somewhere with a lot of ice. The main reason for this is that the light blue contrasts very well with Korra's darker complexion.

Here I added the basic shading and lighting, and also defined the background a better. As you can see, the light isn't very hard because there isn't a light source directly on her. It's mostly light that reflects off the ice.

Here I added two spirits flying around her, and I defined the shading some more. The spirits weren't part of the idea originally, but the piece felt a little empty, so I added them to make it a bit more dynamic.
