As usual I start off with a rough sketch to figure out my composition. I added some perspective by making her front leg much closer to the pov than the rest of her
Then I do my final line work and I add some base colours. It's very important to establish the colour scheme you want to work with as soon as possible, and to make sure you're happy with it. It something that I still struggle with sometimes :(
After that I roughly establish my lighting. This is a very quick step.
This step is very subtle, but it's extremely important. Remember that skin isn't just one tone, but rather small differences in varying hues. So as you can see I added some redish colours to her body and also her shadows
In this step I defined her form more by cleaning up the shadows and added some reflective light. This is also a very important step to help give her a more 3 dimensional form instead making her look flat.
This is basically the same step. I'm just defining everything more to help add depth to the drawing. I made some parts of her body brighter to emphasize the lighting
After that I just add some highlights, final details and a background to really round off the piece :)
