2024-08-10 06:35:48 +0000 UTCWhile I totally agree with the absurdity of shows like The Boys and Fallout with their much touted anti-capitalist rhetoric being hosted by uber-capitalist Amazon, I can’t help but also feel the slightest tinge of hope for the future. I used to be that weirdo socialist kid, but lately I’ve had my most normie friends boomer parents coming to me with serious questions about capitalism, imperialism, etc. On top of that, today badass Labor leader Shawn Fain was invited to speak at a rally for Kamala Harris and had the entire audience chanting classic old school slogans from the heyday of American socialism back in the early 1900’s. The same slogans I was reading about as a young kid in a black hoodie while also reading The Boys comics as they were coming out. While it might seem like little crumbs of hope in a sea of shit, I am absolutely feasting. For the first time in a long time I’m allowing myself to feel a glimmer of optimism.
