So glad you reacted to this; I haven't re-watched this show myself in probably a decade! This was indeed a shocker; the Sharon moment is shocking when it happens but after the fact, makes perfect sense. ANYWAY, this episode is where the music, which was already great, really takes it up a level (in my opinion).

As GreyWolf says, you're dealing with the same questions so many of us had on our first watch, and one of the great joys of being exposed to BSG for the first time is trying to put together all the puzzle pieces and speculating about what it all means. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say that so far you're doing as well as anyone I've seen in parsing and enunciating the various conundrums. The ride is just going to get wilder as you go, and as questions are answered of course the answers will raise new questions. Enjoy the journey!
