I love the ongoing inner conflict as (Cmdr) Adama weighs and prioritizes the human race, military (which he’s been a part of forever), his crew, and his “family” by blood and otherwise eg Starbuck. Not an easy thing, and as we’ve seen sometimes everything may be sacrificed for one. Sounds so counterintuitive and illogical, but is absolutely human nature!

(c: I recall that when I first started watching it, I was one season behind, so I watched the whole first season back to back. That was an exhilerating and stressful watch. I guess younger me had both the time and the constitution to be able to do that. I'm pretty sure I had the same reaction to the biological cylon ship, equal parts "wow, that's crazy, what does that mean, how do I reframe everything I thought up to this point with that in mind"; and also just feeling kinda grossed out, particularly at the very.. wet.. sounds. It was very effective.
