First, as you've already figured out, it's a good idea to avoid watching the preview snippets at the beginning of each episode since they do sometimes contain spoilers. Second, a lot of BSG fans use "Boomer" to refer to the Sharon on Galactica and "Sharon" to refer to the Sharon on Caprica just to keep the characters straight. And finally, as you may already be aware, the character of Tom Zarek in Bastille Day is played by American actor Richard Hatch, who played the character of Captain Apollo in the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica series. In the 1990s Hatch was a strong proponent of reviving the original BSG as a continuation, and was initially resentful when his own vision was rejected in favor of a full reboot; however he changed his view after getting to know BSG reboot creator and showrunner Ron Moore, and became even more of a BSG fan favorite in his recurring role as Zarek.
