They-they become successful because of the quality, not because of the genre LOL. For a long time, one of the highest paid manga kas in Japan was a woman and that dates back to the 90s. Yes, they look at quality, not at their specific gender, this is western stuff, here is where gender was looked at for a long time . Besides, "shounen" is a term for manga made aimed at a male audience, I don't know if you know the meaning of "shounen", so it's natural that MEN do better in a series genre designed for MEN. Although there are successful men in the Shoujo genre, so that's the biggest bullshit you're bringing to the table.

2023-07-12 15:40:18 +0000 UTCThe legend is that while they were working on this episode Gotouge (the mangaka) was at ufotable studio constantly checking in and consulting on their vision of this moment, and that when the studio showed them the finished sequence they went back to their hotel and cried. Also not particularly important to this episode but I am very glad we are seeing more and more non cis-male identified mangaka succeeding in the shounen genre. Gotouge keeps their gender quite ambiguous, most likely taking great care because of the conservative cultural norms in Japan. They insist on gender neutral pronouns as much as possible.
