The story around Vi and Powder and the civil war in Piltover was always laid out for two seasons and the showrunners got their production budget not only for one, but several seasons and with the idea to tell other stories from this huge lol-world later on. They just weren't sure, if the show would be a big enough success to be able to continue. They waited until they were shure it would be, before they started to produce the next season. But the scripts and and storyboards for season 2 already existed. If you didn't already watch it, I strongly recommend you to take a look at "Bridging the Rift", the excellent 5-part Making-Of-Feature. π

2023-05-13 18:39:43 +0000 UTCI get why the ending might be a little frustrating, but the more I let it sink in, the more I think its a really good point to end it. It is not a typical cliffhanger because in a dramatic sense, most character arcs have been resolved for now. It simply sets the stage for another kind of world which will surely arise from these actions, which we can now speculate about. But the story it was trying to tell is complete.
