Attack on Titan S03E20 'That Day' - FULL REACTION!

Comments

This episode almost you guys should just rewatch 1 more time on your own time to get all the small new things shown in this episode. There was a lot for the future of the story.

Thamor

patience of a god, respect

Malak

I’m here waiting for your reactions to episode 21 and 22 so I can watch all 3 of these eps together :)

Asylum

Near the end, Kat mentions humanity's struggle to rise above conflict, and it reminds me of a quote from Erwin in episode 6: "Humanity will never stop fighting itself.. until it shrinks to a size of one or fewer." Peace may never be guaranteed, but that's no reason to not try to improve. Always love your philosophical chats!

LivingDynamo

hahahahaha

Ary Tang

1-hour long video! Let's gooo!

april 🍏

easily the best part about the show tbh and that's what makes it one of the greatest.

Ash Kaulitz

Can't wait for your discussions on morality going into season 4. I love how this show isn't black or white. Good vs Evil. People are just people doing what they think is right.

Eileen Gheysari

I was trying to use a verb form of philosophy. Didn't go well 😅

Sonny Mike Olsen

Got this saved to watch after work later, this one should be good! Hope you enjoyed

Daniel

Really enjoy your discussion about this whole episode and the amount of answers you guys got, next one is one of my favorites and can't wait to see your reaction to what's coming.

Aras Paty

Dina being the titan that ate Carla ...that was so sick and twisted ps: really cool of sonny remembering that there's two episodes called "That day"!

Sarai Olivares

Love your discussion towards the end regarding Gross’ monologue. We as a species are attracted to stimulations hence why we like to learn or do dumb stuffs. Violence is a stimulation but like you both said it shouldn’t be an excuse if peace ever feels lacking philosophically (I think this is the word Kat was trying to say? 😂) speaking

Chikᶠⁱˡa

"Humans gona human, but we should strife to be better" Well said. Really enjoyed your afterthougts :)

Viljo Lehtinen

just to give u guys a heads up since s4 is coming close, they changed the animation studio in s4 to MAPPA since the original studio from s1-3 WIT didn't pick it up because of budget issues and that led to MAPPA working in a tight timeframe since season 4 was really close I think they had approx 8 months to animate it. just putting this up here coz u might be shocked with the change

kenshin

Specifically I think it's about how humans like to root against "acceptable targets". To Gross, the Eldians were acceptable targets, and to the viewers Gross was the acceptable target. To some extent what he said makes sense, but what makes him evil is he actively instigates the cruelty.

Dubs are always worse

I think you should remove the Zeke part starting with your "I think somehow", it's a straight out spoiler of a season 4 episode.

Nely

So to address your question about why Zeke seems to occupy some position of authority, the episode touches on this when the Marleyan government institutes the Warrior Program, which is what Grisha and Dina signed Zeke up for. Just as a recap: military tech is advancing to the point that titan powers will soon be obsolete, so Marley needs a bunch of Eldian children to inherit some Titan shifter powers to go on an infiltration mission to get the Founding Titan. This will let them control all titans, which means more titan weapons for Marley, as well as letting them now access all of Paradis' resources which let them stay ahead of other countries as far as technology goes. We see the results of this when Reiner, Annie, and Bertholdt (as well as the 4th kid) show up to Paradis and bust the wall down. For now, the only thing we can assume about Zeke's position is that, while he clearly wasn't selected to be one of the 4 on the infiltration mission, he as well as that duckface Titan were eventually sent in 5 years after the Warrior Unit made first contact, which is why you see the Beast Titan first show up in season 2. In season 3 part 2 we then see that the duckface Titan is also with him, so somehow those two are here on a separate mission, I would guess probably to try to make contact with the first team they sent, since they didn't hear anything from them for half a decade. I think somehow Zeke must have been able to continue in Marley's good graces after turning his parents in which would have been the only way for him to still eventually get the "privilege" of inheriting a Titan shifter power. Those were all my thoughts at the time I saw this episode for the first time. Also not sure if you guys caught it or not, but one of the main reasons Marley despises the Eldians is because ONLY Eldians can transform into Titans, which means ONLY Eldians can inherit Titan shifters as well. So they not only hate them because of their "history" but also because they possess a latent ability to become giant monsters. Really complicates the historical narrative in interesting ways that I think make the story more unique compared to how our own history went. I can't imagine how much uglier WW2 would have been if the Jews had also had the ability to transform into mega meat mechs.

Hmmm, something must’ve gone wrong. Does the download function work?

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that Attack on Titan has Top Tier english dub, so if you feel more comfortable watching it in english, it wont limit the experience one bit and you dont have to read subtitles always, which can really suck especially in plot heavy episodes like this

M1chael

If you want to be even more sad about Faye and appreciate Isayamas worldbuilding even more, take a look at this neat scarf detail. S3 E20 & S1 E1 https://i.imgur.com/sTbVqTe.png Grisha started wearing it to always remember her. Also, you noticed some Season 1 Titans, but here is a collection of them all: https://i.imgur.com/dSgkMhm.png

was gonna say u guys can watch the OP now but it seems that there's no opening this time lol

kenshin

Gross's monologue about why we like cruelty is actually Isayama talking to the viewer, commenting "people actually like to see cruelty", hinting this is why we watch AOT. I am really excited for the next episode, IMO one of the best chapters in all of AOT manga.

Rajat Shrinet

The Google link it's not working for me.

Aras Paty

Omg so excited
