Yeah, they also referenced that Mando also captured 3 wanted criminals, in that same episode. He put them in that prison cell instead of killing them. That added to his 'credibility'.

I love how they build these episodes with lots of call backs to actions that happened previously. Like if Mando had not tried to save the Lt on the prison ship the X-wings would have blown him out of the sky. It just builds the concept that the characters actions are more than just a choice in the moment.
