The Expanse S04E01 'New Terra' - FULL REACTION!

Great reaction guys. I think you have an above average handle on things and on what is going to happen or at least a much better idea than I had watching this the first time around.

I liked the subtitles, I usually don't use them so its interesting to see some of them. FYI many of the outdoor shots were in a quarry in central Ontario. Its beautiful but cold up there and they are usually shooting in the middle of winter! Kind of Iceland like though too (I was just there last summer!) I loved how excited Sonny is for this season! and the happiness for seeing Bobbie and Ashford again! I just love David Straitharn who plays Ashford, he is completely awesome!

The Investigator was "looking" at Holden, and then made contact with the proto-molecule structures on Illus which drew him there. I was tickled that Kat made the connection between Melba and Peaches (none of my other friends have done so without prompting). The reason that Miller is connected to Holden has to do with that half-million brain-cells that he's pushing buttons with to produce the image of Miller.

There's also an issue of what Drummer said that many Belters on Ilus had to go back into orbit because they physically couldn't handle the gravity. This might create two Belter classes, one space-bound and the other who can live on the planets. In a couple of generations, the planetside Belters could exploit the space-bound one's just as the inners are doing.

Drummer mentioned "in two generations their children will be inners". Being born on a planet doesn't make you one, but living on one long enough that your bodies and your children's bodies go through physiological changes definitely qualifies as becoming an inner. Within two generations, the descendants will be fully acclimated to the gravity well and space walking would be foreign to them completely. Drummer is afraid of Belters losing their identities, part of the reason she made fun of Ashfords uniform last season.

At the end of S3 all of the ships went through the same gate, Sol gate. Remember that every ship in the zone was damaged and had massive amounts of casualties and was low on supplies. They were all heading home. Add to that, the Roci had a prisoner on board, as well as Bobbie and Anna, so they were heading home as well.

Drummer explaining how the belters will stop being belters, in a short explanation: imagine a young, lovely Danish couple comes to America. They settle, raise a family. They try to teach their children the ways of Denmark, and they succeed, halfway, but the children are still raised completely dipped in another culture. Now extrapolate that to the grandchildren. They might not be Danish anymore. Drummer isn't saying the belt wouldn't acknowledge them, but that 2 generations from living in space, as a belter, would make them inners.

Agreed. Have always had a hard time hearing the show unless I turned up Kat and Sonny to "Angry Gods in heaven" level volume. :D

Yay! Season 4 is SO GOOD! You're going to see how the opening of the Ring Gates will impact Earth, Mars and the Belt! And this season gives us a fuller look at Mars, which is awesome!

The belter thing is complicated. The show is different from the books in looks and how they are visualized for budget reasons but belters are really tall and lanky in the books they are called skinnys. There is a lot of racism and in the first episode one of the inners mentioned how a few hundred generations they wont even be human anymore. Living on the surface is dangerous for them (you see avarasarala torturing a belter in the very first episode just by having him be on earth. So they have a very strong racial identity and it is more than just how they have been used and treated.

Yes the subs are great, the volume you mix the video is really low so it helps me from having to turn it waaay up which makes you guys really loud so the subs are good.
