The reason why The Crusaders sacked Constantinople was that the Dodge of Venice wanted the Crusaders wanted a different claimant to the Byzantine Throne and they were promised share of the treasury. Which was not as stacked as they thought it would be so they sacked the city.

Do you have any idea what the dialogue in question is supposed to mean?

Technically they were meant to be the same side. Historically The Pope of the Catholic Church and Emperor Alexius and the Patriachs of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople initially worked together in combating saracen invasion into Europe and liberating Yerushalayim.
But for some reason the Catholic Church Templars, Hospitalliers and the Western European knights sacked Constantinople, rendering it weak and later taken over by turks to become Istanbul. Something which the Orthodox Church still has never forgiven the Catholic Church for, but then the two have always argued.
History aside though, I approve this sexy depiction of history. Good work Flick. :-)
