Future Plans - Some changes needed.

If you don't feel like reading the massive wall of text below, the summary of this post is that there will be more of the popular videos (like The Stickworld and Main Obstacle Courses) released in the future, and way less of the less popular videos, like spin-off series and Trailers.

If you want to know the reason behind these changes, and see some more details, here's the promised wall of text:

The last 1-2 months, every video I released has performed Way below what they normally do, and channel views as a whole are down to around half or normal, and subscriber gains have basically stopped. Things also seem to become worse for every video I publish.

I can see several tactical mistakes I have made this year. Here they are, and also here's what I'm going to do about them:

1. Recent Poll results clearly show that most of the core audience prefer The Stickworld instead of obstacle courses. Making a 3 part Origin series (The Cliff 0.5) that most of the core audience isn't nearly as interested in as I hoped was a big mistake. As this means a big pause from normal Stickworld videos. The channel most likely needs The Stickworld way more than I thought in order to maintain its normal momentum.

The solution to this is to focus more on The Stickworld series than before, and try to release these videos way more regularly. This will start in October with the Supporter-special of The Stickworld, followed by another episode in November and December.

2. I have focused too much on spin-off series (like Red and Yellow, and the Win/Loss-videos) this year. I need to remove or minimize less popular videos like that, and focus much more on the popular series. That also means stop with the Trailers, as they never get very good views. (I will still post pics, info, and release dates from all upcoming video here as usual of course!)

Two last Trailers (On Sept 9 and Nov 4) will be released before I stop with them.

3. This year's strategy of releasing (at least) one video every week no matter what, has proven to be a very bad one, as this dilutes the popular videos with too many non popular ones, and people seem to lose interest due to this.

The solution is once again to stop with the videos that perform bad and focus more on popular videos, like The Stickworld, and the main obstacle courses.

The problem here is that the popular videos are also the ones that takes the most time to make. Here are rough estimates on how long typical videos take to make:

The Cliff/Stickworld (8-10 minutes long) : 4 weeks.

Main Obstacle Course (3 minutes): 2 weeks.

Numbered obstacle course (1 minute): 0.5 weeks.

A Trailer: 0.5 days.

In order to stop the future release schedule from becoming way too empty, I most likely need to stop making 10 minutes long videos. Maybe one 5 minute Stickworld video at least every month is better than a 10 minute video every other month? (I can also be more adaptive with the video length, and sometimes make the Stickworld videos longer when needed, to make sure things won't feel too compressed or rushed.) The Patreon Supporter list will of course continue to appear at the end of The Stickworld videos, no matter their length.

Being able to release both a Stickworld and a main obstacle course video every month would probably be a good thing.

As the YouTube algorithm has also almost completely stopped recommending my videos to new people (hence the stop in subscriber gains), I also need to more often than before try new types of videos. I have a marble race video (with the obstacle course stick figures) planned for November, as well as some other stuff for early next year. Including a brand new series.

It also seems that Shorts are getting more and more popular on YouTube compared with the long form content, so I need to make them somewhat regularly as well. They are fairly quick to make (2 days or so), so I could try to fill some otherwise empty Fridays with Shorts. I will start doing this early next year.

I am as always open for feedback and suggestions!😀

I'm actually only using 20 fps, but it's not uncommon that I get comments from people who think it's higher.👍

The marble race videos I have seen on YouTube are 10-15 minutes long, which for me is way too tedious. I will adapt the video to my own style, and make several shorter races instead. Some channel owners start a separate channel for uploading clips from their main content. Some succeed, while others don't. I feel like my audience wouldn't be very happy with me reposting stuff they have already seen.

it’s clear you probably animate at 30 FPS on FlipaClip, so maybe it might be worth turning that down by say 2 or 3 frames to 27 or 28? This would make video production so much faster. Of course, you can always stay at 30 or whatever you animate at FPS, and what I said about turning down frame rate can be completely ignored, decision is entirely up to you my friend

a marble race video seems like a good idea. maybe give them intense obstacles based on their skill/mpl. and, i'm very hyped for ur upcoming videos and one more thing. maybe you could post some clips from popular videos and maybe a lot of people would watch those clips and, you could do it every other day or whatever time you can to post them. that's my suggestion and thank you for making such inspiring content!
