Regularly trying new types of videos is important for most YouTube channels (my most recent examples of this are the Shorts and the Win/Loss-videos.)
What you see on July 8 is an example of this. I'm planning for an obstacle course seriers (with the original 5) that has mechanics that are a bit... weirder/more special than usual, to give the audience a bit more variation.
This can for example be random power ups that temporary give them completely new powers (some good, some bad). Like turning liquid, or being able to stretch their arms/legs etc. I have plans for 3 (very) different videos of this series for now. I'll see how they perform before deciding if making more is worth it.
As the winners and losers of these videos could be way more random/unfair than usual, I will probably not count these videos when doing future Win/Loss videos (or possibly just count the wins but not the losses).
Do You guys have any suggestions for fun/weird/unusual mechanics that could be used in obstacle courses like this?
On August 12 is a little extra video where all the stick figures try out a Cliff battle, complete with a counter that spawns a boss when full etc.
This final wall of text is just me scratching my head over how the heck YouTube really works, so feel free to skip it if you wish.π The latest two videos released (Red and Yellow 3 and The Anti Magic Palace) are videos that I personally think turned out great, and thought were going to perform well. But the audience definitely didn't like them, as these two videos are doing Really bad. What's weird as usual is that the poll result shows that people really liked The Anti Magic Palace compared with the other recent main obstacle courses. But for some reason, it's always the most popular poll-videos that do the worst. And the opposite. The least popular poll-videos do the best. Examples of this happening are Ob14,15,16,17, And the 4 latest main obstacle course videos! The All perform the opposite of what people voted! After doing this for 9 years, I obviously still have no idea whatsoever how YouTube works...π
