These are my first early thoughts about the new health/damage system. It will focus much less on power levels, and much more on magic power level/ attack/defense. Nothing of this is 100% decided, so feedback for changes etc is always welcome.
Important is that the viewers Don't have to learn/understand Any of the health/damage system if they don't want to, as the series can be enjoyed almost as much without it. But it does make it much easier for Me to know how much damage someone is supposed to really take/give etc. It will make everything much more real and consistent.
The MPL for base magicians (beginner/rookie/master etc) will be the same as their Attack and Defense. (So a master magician with 4 MPL will have 4 Att and 4 Def). Most beings will have the same value for Att and Def, but there will always be exceptions. (Like the estimations for Little Brother and Big Brother for example.)
Two beings with the same Att and Def as each other will cause 40% damage with every normal attack they do. If one of the beings has Att and Def that's 1 higher than the other, the damage will instead double/halve to 80% / 20% and so on. So every increase in Att/Def doubles the power/defense. Not very different from before.
Little Brother having Def 11 means that he would only die from one hit if hit by something with a massive Att 13. (As Att 12 would do 80% damage to him, which he could quickly regenerate). Big brother with Att 12 on the other hand would have been able to one hit ko anything with a Def of 10 or less. And this also makes sense that he almost killed Overseer Lolph with MPL 11 with one hit.
There will also be many different magic attacks with different damage modifiers. This means that two seemingly even master magicians could have very different power levels depending on their learned skills. This should makes normal battles much less predictable.
This would also make things as hidden optional (super) bosses etc possible, that could have a set amount of challenging statistics etc. They could also have the ability to temporarily teleport themselves and their opponents to Dimension B, to allow anyone to face them without risking to die for real. And defeating them could give a big reward of some kind.
As for power levels, I don't really know what to do with them at the moment. Giving someone a 100% correct PL has always been nearly impossible, and it will be even harder now. Maybe base magicians can have their "Base PL" (Like 500 for a master magician etc) displayed as the standard value or something like that? There could maybe also be an "Estimated PL" for most beings, instead of absolute values.
I plan to quickly display the entire new system in the beginning of Season 3, so everyone who want can pause and check it out. And for the most people that won't be interested, things won't feel very different from before, except the bigger variety in abilities/spells etc.
