Zodiac Echoes: enemy design poll
Added 2018-11-21 20:18:02 +0000 UTCAs some of you may have noticed, the google drive doc for Zodiac Echoes is undergoing continuous changes these days; once I get my hands back on InDesign Iโll also begin work on the rulebook layout - if possible, I want to make it really pocket sized and easy to carry around, perhaps even A6 or something like that.
When it comes to the presentation of enemies, however, I have been wondering: would you prefer each creature to have its own reference card, or would you rather have cards be a Player Character-only option, with enemy stats found within the book and categorized by theme?
My worry is that while cards would work well for default enemies, the more complex ones (such as Ends) would probably struggle to fit within the poker-sized format.
What are your thoughts?
Note: I consider these options mutually exclusive, since having enemies on cards allows for a lighter rulebook and reduced page count. Enemy cards might also become a gameplay element I could experiment with.

Oh same as me, if you ever want to do something together I am on board!

2018-11-22 17:21:12 +0000 UTCAs of now, I am considering an extended approach to the game, with codified Echoes for each Zodiac. This will add variety (Libra: Anubis won't have the same powers as Libra: Athena) and make PC creation quicker (no need to come up with a myth on the spot). For enemies I don't want to do bigger cards mostly because it would hinder portability and sleeving, and given how the entire scenario is predetermined by the GM there's no need for random encounters (in fact, they would risk breaking the scenario's theme). I think I will instead work towards properly indexing the "bestiary", grouping enemies by the themes and emotions they represent!
