Tada! Centaurs!
This twist has consistently surprised most people reading through the entire book in one shot, but it was instantly demolished by fans who have been rereading the same pages for years and sharing theories with each other. It did sting a lot to see those readers start discussing this like it was obvious and inevitable, though. I can understand now why authors sometimes panic and change story lines when readers correctly guess a twist. But despite what my ego wants, it's not my job to outsmart 1000+ people, it's my job to tell a compelling and cohesive story. So, readers being able to pick up on clues and see the train coming is a good thing. ...However, I did do a just a smidgen of comment gaslighting, to keep those readers engaged...
Patreon subscribers, do me a huge favor and don't spoil this for the public webcomic readers. It's going to leak out anyways through Twitch streams of later pages but I will delete comments on the webcomic site that get too cheeky about knowing it. I have to do at least that much. For my ego.
