I kind of got some similar experiences growing up and so I learned that being "inconvenient" meant being abandoned whenever I had any problems. I got very good at being useful AND not-inconvenient...which meant I was very bad at trusting my friends to accept the more "inconvenient" parts of myself. Which is really hilariously dumb because I love my friends and have never had a second thought about accommodating them. Somehow I can't believe they would want to do the same for me! And I think they're goddang amazing wonderful kind people, so that doesn't really seem in character for them! I guess being reminded that they *want* to help - that it's not just polite behavior they would do for anyone - makes it easier to just talk about it without being afraid that they'll be angry that they have to accommodate me. It's just...hard to get out of your own head (or torso, I guess, in Talita's case!)
