If you own and live on a ship, you're either really wealthy or it's your main source of income. And no, because that would be like trying to use an RV as an excavator. Also there's already a ton of asteroid mining operations and the price of gold has plummeted so it's not exactly a get-rich-quick scheme anymore

Are there space versions of van-life communities with people living on their own spacecraft? Could they fix up the Runaway and take it to an asteroid to mine it and get rich or has the value of gold and other precious metals crashed?
