Going about the house naked or in loose house-clothes is normal for Tiiliitians. They really only wear the fancy tight full cover outfits in public.

I think that centaurs still produce oils and generally gather debris and dust just due to having feathers. I imagine it starts to feel icky, like if you don't wash your hair after a long time. Plus it might just be to feel refreshed.
