Runaway to the Stars: Page 17

Bug ferrets have little compunction about touching strangers.

the way the bug ferrets talk like a ventriloquist is an excellent touch. no lips to move

"Don't de rude" has been an earworm for me since I read it a couple of days ago. Ah, the bug ferrets!

Sparky Lurkdragon

the way Talita curls her trunk up toward the mic is precious

Lucky

I love the color/pattern variation of the ferrets! And its such a nice touch that they can't pronounce certain sounds in English because of their mouthparts

Terrible Claws

It makes me wonder how first contact with humans was like, Jay stated that a group of bugferrets that spoke BFL 1 appeared around Jupiter's orbit to set up a permanent wormhole gate. I can only imagine how awkward that was and potentially how many bugferrets were present knowing how big entire ship crews can be, especially considering that they were building a wormhole gate which likely required bureaucratic permission beforehand by the BFGC. I can only imagine the headaches that every sapient party must have endured trying to first communicate especially considering how different human and bugferret communication is. I can imagine a group of human xeno-language specialists being overwhelmed by a single family of xeno language specialist and so on.

TheMushroomInside

I like the way the center bug ferret in the second panel has one eye swiveled back to look at the rude bug ferret.

Dragonsmirk

Is that one bug ferret trying to sign on Talita's legs?

Wolfcat

Well, it's an "exoskeleton" as in their muscle attachment is mostly inside their bones; but it's covered by skin, fat and fur! So they would feel very weird compared to an earth mammal but the chubbier ones would be quite squishy round the middle.

i love how touch oriented the bug ferrets are, and i especially love how they aren’t hesitant in touching other species in the same way they would other bug ferrets. it’s an interesting (and logical) quirk of their race that’s really enjoyable to see in action, especially against talita, who probably didn’t experience the same amount of touch a typical human or centaur might as a foster kid. i love her little “…okay” face

boreanSlumber

I love the ferrets, I know they’ve got exoskeletons and stuff but they look so cuddly

The thing I love the most about your work is that everyone is just a normal person. They may be an alien or an AI, but they've still got laundry they need to get done and are looking forward to the next vacation day- just like anyone.

Sarah McNeal

That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure :)

Origamigryphon

I love the way her trunk is curled up toward the mic!

thagomisemer

Origamigryphon
