Avian Hybrids, Phylogeny, Global Distribution

Did some quick diagrams for the avian family tree and hybridization. I need to draw the 7 viable hybrid combinations at some point, though Sirawit counts for the flightless/skimmer combo, lol. The map depicts the approximate native ranges of the species (pre-industrial age, basically)

Im not sure the specifics, the "big island" in Airsled may also be the largest of a colonized archipelago in the southern hemisphere.

2022-12-30 23:24:57 +0000 UTCSo with the references to the “big island” as the endgoal of the grapeweed cargo and the abundance of skimmers on Vrazi’s home island suggesting it started as skimmer territory, would Vrazi’s island be one of the orange ones in the bottom right?

2022-12-30 13:54:55 +0000 UTCI'm thinking it's more of a situation where the largest populations of oceanic avians just became skimmers and divers, and smaller populations of oceanics disappeared for historically unclear reasons, like the other members of our genus did. Gene pool assimilation is probably the main culprit.
