WIP Walkcycles: Higher Framerates, also Pinkie
Added 2022-03-04 23:31:45 +0000 UTCI've been in kind of a funk lately and spending way too much of my time banging my head against these cycles.
Turii, Sirawit, Gillie, Idrisah, and Shyam are all 24 fps now, Shyam's tail is curled (it makes a little more sense for a bipedal walk) and Talita's gait pattern is fixed (it was unstable before). I'm currently pulling my hair out over the rest of Talita's animation, because changing the gait made it essential to change a bunch of more fiddly things, like the way her body flexes and expresses weight loading, and I'm also trying to increase her frame rate at the same time... arghhhh.
The curse of frame rate with 2D animation is that the higher the frame rate, the more flaws are revealed, because it's closer to reality and your brain is doing less work to fill in the gaps. When it's done well it's hypnotically smooth though.

Gillie's also walking with her hands in her pockets which can sometimes make me have to turn my hips more (bc no arms swinging to help with balance or momentum or something idk)

2022-03-05 03:56:05 +0000 UTCIt could be because Gillie's a catgirl, I know cats tend to walk in a completely straight line by placing their feet right in front of each other and it looks like that might be what she's doing here. With human hips that would probably require more twisting of the torso
