Sorrel's stripes are from his mom's side of the family. It's an artificial gene, but Sorrel would be considered a typ human because he's part of the largest human gene pool. There's a lot of artificial genes floating around in there these days.

Yeah, for sure! I'm always very interested in depicting disability and accommodation in scifi (as you may have noticed...) and I try to add traits like that when I feel it comes up naturally.
