Shyam and Idrisah: Faces
Added 2021-10-02 19:00:03 +0000 UTCI have terminal draws-random-scenes-out-of-context-and-order disease, but I suppose that if I've been drawing so many chunks of this storyline and people like them, I might as well keep posting them.
At this point, Talita has been staying at Shyam's place and working her for over 3 weeks. Idrisah's (and Gillie's) impression of Shyam this entire time has been that's she's kind of rude and standoffish and has been ignoring Talita's very obvious crush because she's uninterested and doesn't want to bring it up. So over the course of this conversation Idrisah is like, oh,
I do a pretty good job at telegraphing alien expressions and body language to a human audience, but if everything was rendered 100% realistically, I suspect that interpreting the non-human sophont faces would be a lot more difficult. It gets worse if you have a social disability and the person you're trying to read is using an adaptive and atypical cue set for her species.
Recognition is exhilarating.
