My Yandere Maid is Obsessed with Me: Chapter 4

Ryu

It’s really a miracle that Melody can walk around the castle without any type of punishment ever getting handed down to her. She’s gone on a rampage more than once in our time together, yet no one ever comes to take her away.

I feel like somehow even though my mother isn’t favored by the king, she stops him from coming after us. But… how is she doing this? For the most part, my mom doesn’t like to talk about the king as if he were just a figment of our imagination.

The crown prince is the only one with motive to send these assassins or his mother. He’s my only half-brother, with the other siblings being female. That idiot actually thinks I would believe him in saying he’s never sent assassins my way.

Looking over at Melody, who is just calmly walking beside me as if nothing happened, I can’t believe she’s built this way. But, in a world like this one, it’s a blessing to have her by my side.

I don’t particularly enjoy being protected by a girl because of how it makes me feel. But I’ve come to accept it with how subpar my skills are with any type of weapon. Plus, it’s like a form of expression for her in showing how she truly feels towards me. She’s putting her life on the line to protect someone like me.

While, yes, I’m a prince, with a past life that I remember, I still can’t wrap my head around being royalty. Having such a high position, you will always have people who would give their lives to protect yours.

They don’t truly care if you live or die; they're just doing a job that must be done. For Melody, it’s much different; she truly believes it’s her calling. I’ve asked her before why she is so loyal, and she said, “Because I must protect the one who saved me.”

She had explained it to me on the day we first met, but honestly, it was very vague. I do remember taking a cute girl out of the rain and giving her some money, but I was very surprised that same girl became my personal maid. It was for sure a blessing in disguise that I was there on that day to interact with her. If not, we might have never met.

“Does your family have some kind of superpowers?” I asked curiously as I turned to Melody. Her strength seems superhuman, and those skills are second to none. There has to be more to it than she just trained hard.

“Superpowers?” She looked at me quizzically. “What are those?”

“You know… like… when your body has an upgrade that causes you to have an advantage over your opponent.” This world doesn’t have superheroes, so having to explain the concept is a little difficult. I can’t just show her a movie and say, This is a hero. “You’re so fast and efficient with your movement; it’s like you have a superpower.”

“Ah… I think I understand what you mean. Our family has always had a physique designed for combat. Since we’re all born to be assassins, our bodies are very adept at all sorts of combat. I’m pretty sure that’s why my father was the one in charge; it was because of our special trait.” Her eyes were looking somewhere in the distance.

“Do you miss your family?” I asked curiously.

“No! I was only close with my mother, who died early on in my life, and my father was a psychopath. All my other siblings died on missions. I was the youngest, so I survived long enough before the family fell.” She turned to me with a gaze full of longing. “I’m actually happy everything happened the way it did because then I would have never met you, Ryu.” Her lips creased into a smile, looking as beautiful as ever.

“Well… I guess that’s good, but I feel like I would have somehow found you no matter what.” I jumped up the steps of the carriage and reached out my hand to Melody. It was best if we left the castle for now and let things die down.

I stood there with my hand out as Melody looked at me with a complicated face. “You know…”

Before she could say anything against my actions, I put a finger against her lips. “Hand!” I said with force as she looked at me with her stoic expression. A staring contest commenced as neither one of us budged. “You know I don’t mind staring at you all day like this, my lovable lethal lady.”

Melody had some redness on her cheeks as she gave in and allowed me to help her into the carriage while I was getting looks like usual. Treating a maid the way I do will always get people talking, but I don’t care!

She sat on the right side, very close to the window, leaving a great amount of space as she looked the other way. It's obvious what she’s thinking, but she is too shy to admit it.

Without any hesitation, I sat right next to her, squishing her body into the side of the carriage. I felt some resistance to creating a little room for her before she accepted my actions as I leaned my head against hers.

“So… did you want to go look for baby clothes for when our child is born?” My tone is playful as I feel her head turn towards mine with shock.

“I was unaware that I was pregnant.” Melody said in a flat tone, bringing herself back into her normal composure.

“Well, if I were you, I would have to kill that guy because we still need to have our first time!” My voice was firm.

“Don’t you mean I would have to kill that guy because that’s my job?” She gave a slight giggle that was as if every flower in the world just bloomed. My excitement for this woman is always on the edge of exploding. Melody is almost too perfectly matched with me that it’s scary.

“That was so cute.” I said with glee as I lifted my head to stare at her.

Before I could make any more moves, she suddenly turned the other way in obvious embarrassment. That’s an emotion she will only ever show me because when we're out in the open and I cause this reaction, she still stays stone-faced. It’s one of her cute quirks.

After about half an hour, we reached the middle of the capital city, where most people congregate. Huge crowds flood the streets as vendors from all around the kingdom come and try to strike it rich. Not to mention all the high-end goods for purchase in the main plaza.

After we came to a complete stop, I jumped out of the carriage first and held out my hand.

“You know, young master, that’s not very elegant of you.” Melody said, obviously joking.

“Well, do you find it unflattering?” I asked.

“No, I always find the way you carry yourself very endearing and something that’s very attractive.” Her hand rubbed along my arm with a provocation of skin ship.

I hurriedly grabbed her hand and got down on one knee. “Anything for my lady.” Melody quickly got off the carriage, grabbed my hand, and pulled me away from all the gawkers.

“Let’s go.” She quickly led me to our first destination, and I couldn’t help but smile widely at her actions.

I tend to favor going towards the commoner section over the noble one if I’m looking for some fun. Who would want to watch a play or an opera? Hell no! I’m not sure how, but there are bands that play around the city and actually have instruments you would find from my last world.

Such as drums, guitar, bass, triangle, trumpet, violin, etc. I’m sure there must have been many others who were reincarnated here. One of them obviously loved musical instruments and brought them into this world, but for some reason nobles look down on them.

They would rather listen to some loudmouth opera singer because it’s more civilized. Well, fuck that; if it was at least an orchestra that backed her, it would barely be acceptable.

Anyway, in my past life I used to be a decent drummer, and when I realized they had them in this world, I couldn’t help myself but purchase one. There’s this place called Musician Alley where all the best players come and congregate. That’s our current destination and also what I’m hearing off into the distance as we approach it.

As we entered, I heard the people cheer. I've become very popular with my skills on the drums, and most aspiring drummers ask me to help them out. I don't really mind, and this also created an image of a prince who cared about the commoners.

This could also be one of the reasons I keep getting assassins trying to take my life: my reputation with the commoners was very good. As you would expect, a lot of them do fear Melody because of the way she acts towards the females who try to get my attention.

"If you would, my dear." I beckon Melody to bring out my drum set that she normally keeps in her weapon space. There was just enough room inside that also held most of her weaponry she would use vs. any hostiles.

"Prince Ryu, do you want to play together?" A very attractive girl with shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes walks up while holding a guitar. She's one of the better musicians that frequent this place and can also sing like no other.

I smile at her, "Sure, sounds good." We had a few others join our ensemble.

Her name was Asuka, and she was very brave to actually interact with me when Melody was sending daggers at her figuratively. But in the end she would relent because I was having so much fun playing with people who were actually talented; she accepted her presence.

I had taught the people many different songs from my past life and created some of my very own. Every time I would show up, it would turn into a festival with great music and food to go around. It was a great stress reliever when something would happen in the castle to unwind and feel much better about my life.

We would usually stay for a few hours before Melody would insist we get back before my mother would start to worry. Even at the age of seventeen, my mom would still come to my room to say goodnight and sometimes we would chat together.

It's become even more frequent as I've aged, as if she was afraid one of us would disappear sometime in the near future. Melody would always give us some space as she would read something on the couch as we chatted with each other.

There's something very comforting about this life: the relationship with my mother. I was never very close with mine in the other world, so having this kind of relationship was comforting. Even though my father was a piece of garbage, at least my mom was very loving.

After my mother left, I had Melody come be my huggable pillow for the night, and of course I would be the big spoon. I never forced her to turn in my direction when we would do this during the night, and I'm sure I understand why.

Her smell, softness, and atmosphere—everything about her drew me in as I got drunk on all these tingling and exciting sensations in my body.

"I don't know what I would do without you, Melody. You're the greatest thing to have ever come into my life, and I pray you will never leave me." I mumbled as I quickly fell asleep in the comfort of holding onto the one I care about the most.

At the same time, I was completely oblivious to the feelings of the girl in my arms, who is having a nuclear explosion of emotions currently happening within her body.
