My Covenant - The Vicious Vampire Queen: Chapter 18

As Shuka and I approached the front gate, I noticed a certain figure looming on the rooftop, sending a powerful killing intent towards the both of us. Focusing my eyes on the familiar pointy ears of the elf we had come to an agreement with earlier.
So… what my mother was worried about and also what Shuka picked up on earlier was one hundred percent true. The sharp glint in her emerald eyes was the most telling proof of what she thought about us.
But why is that? I’ve never wronged her in any way, and everything I said to her earlier was the truth. I need to stop being such an idiot, trusting people who could have easily stabbed us in the back on a later date. Stupid Selene! I couldn’t help but admonish myself.
There was a man in fancy attire that was standing in front of the hundreds of men that were currently surrounding our new home. Each one of them fully decked out, wearing impeccable armor, with about twenty or so individuals in robes chanting spells in preparation for battle.
“You insolent girl, how dare you do this in my city!” The well-dressed man quipped.
Stopping a few feet before we reached the barrier, I stood there and stared down the man. “This is your city?” I asked him back laced with sarcasm.
“That’s right, you bitch, and you’re trespassing. Not to mention you destroyed multiple establishments and also took up a residence without proper authority."
“Quite the mouth on you, old bastard, and just so you know, you’re no longer in charge.” The growing crowd of combatants erupted into laughter at my words. “I’m so happy that you find it so funny, hehehe. There’s no enjoyment in any of this if you don’t get blindsided.” I mumbled the latter part so they couldn’t hear my words.
“HAHAHA, you’re really a piece of work, Selene. Too stupid to even realize when you’re being played or completely outmaneuvered. Is naivety your only quality?” A woman who was once on the roof jumped down beside the older fellow.
Then something that completely blew my mind happened. They both kissed passionately as if it was the most normal thing in the world. I thought elves hated humans?
“Eeeekkkk!” Gwen, who was following behind us, shrieked loudly.
Glancing back I saw the terror of God in her eyes as if she had just seen a ghost. What could this be about?
“I see you used that skill of yours on that useless trash over there.” Lyra pointed through me to the one standing behind us.
Gwen instantly hit the ground in utter fear, pulling shaky knees into her body. “This isn’t happening.” She kept muttering to herself.
“Dear, I told you to just kill that girl.” Lyra commented as she gripped his arm.
“Yes… I should have listened. But I was hopeful she would finally prove useful after all the luxury she’s lived with until now.”
Looking at both of them, I asked the question that I had been pondering for the last few minutes. “Lyra, are you seriously turning me into an enemy?” Even though I trust my mother and Shuka, I still wanted confirmation just to really drive it home how stupid I’ve been.
“Idiot, who would want to serve someone with the IQ of a rock? You didn’t even realize from the second you entered the adventurer guild you were under my illusion.” She scoffed. “My only goal in our whole interaction was to find out everything I could about you. Who would have known that you would just spill everything?”
Damn it! I guess the little bit of humanity I still feel is completely useless. What’s the point of holding on to something that will only get me into trouble in the future?
“You’re right; I was stupid to believe in your words. Are the elves even being treated poorly in the Tilum kingdom?” Let’s see if she will at least answer this. Is she my only Elven enemy, or are all of them? It’s not like I will try to peacefully coexist with anyone from this point forward.
“HAHA, the elves do have it bad in the human territory, but that’s only because they’re useless. You see, I was the one who found the spirit king all those years ago, and I’m also the one who sold them out to the Tilum Kingdom.” Lyra’s eyes light up with glee as if she were so happy to express her feelings about what she had done. “You know your father has a torture chamber under his castle; it’s quite enjoyable.”
How do I even take in all this information? “Why though? You would forsake your own people to such a fate?” This world is truly against those who are weak of heart. Kill or be killed. If you listen to the wrong person, it could lead to the eradication of your whole people.
“Because it’s fun!!!” She gave off an even more imbalanced, maniacal laughter than I have in the past. “You see… look at your face right now… it’s so intoxicating!”
“I see, so you’re a sadist? You enjoy ruining people’s lives and seeing them in pain. I’m sure inflicting it is what you truly love the most.”
“You’re half right; I also enjoy being dominated. But there are only two who I would ever allow to treat me that way. Everyone else is just toys to play with.” I saw her lick her lip seductively as she looked in my direction. “Just so you know, your father was the one who initially broke me. But now it’s only fond memories of a time when I was in the height of my ecstasy.”
“Stop calling that disgusting sperm donor my father. He’s a piece of trash.” I yell.
“Please keep making that face, Selene. It’s so delicious watching people in despair. “
“That’s enough women!” Out of nowhere, the older man slaps her hard in the face. She tumbled to the ground but quickly got up to her knees and looked up with pure elation written all over her face.
I’m guessing this man is the second one she allows. Not that I even fucking care. They will both be dying here today, and this is perfect. He seems to be Gwen’s father; now I can fulfill the promise I had made to her earlier.
Growl
My hand was currently being smashed with so much vigor, and the rage boiling up in her body was starting to show. It was only a matter of time before the clock struck twelve and we brought in the new reign of my soon-to-be Vampire Kingdom.
The humans, of course, will have their role as our blood bags. Thinking back to the movie Matrix, I could learn a few things from those AIs. To breed humans for the sole purpose of being our nutrients in the future, they should be happy; at least I will be keeping some of them alive.
“Kill, kill them all, my cute wolf.” I whispered in Shuka’s ear as she activated her skill.
In the blink of an eye, Shuka started to morph into a giant wolf the size of a school bus. “Roar!” The sound of Shuka as she fully transformed was deafening as everyone in our surroundings covered their ears.
Seeing this as our opportunity, I jumped onto the back of Shuka, and we exited the barrier with extreme killing intent laced throughout both our bodies.
I created a whip out of chaotic energy and started slicing and dicing the soldiers as Shuka went to town on all those present. She was sinking her fangs or claws into anything and everything she could find.
Jumping off her back as she used her lightning, I landed right in the middle of an encirclement of about twenty knights. Swinging the whip above my head violently in a counterclockwise motion, I started to shred the armor as if it was nothing more than tissue paper.
Swoosh Splat
Out of nowhere I got impaled in the stomach by a huge green arrow pinning me against a wall. The magic I feel from this was very familiar. It was obvious that bitch Lyra who did it. I wouldn’t have to wait long to confirm it.
Slam
Lyra was right in front of me, standing on top of the magically enforced arrow. “That’s right, Selene; please… show me your agony.” The crazy eyes of the elf were piercing right into me. “You want to know something funny?”
I look at her dumbfounded at how she wanted to have a casual conversation in this situation. “Do I even have a choice?” My only concern was wasting time as Shuka’s power kept growing. It was hard for the armored knights to keep up with her speed and magic power. The mages couldn’t land any spells because of that as well.
“Haha, it’s too bad it has to be this way, but that’s life. You know that blood of yours is already starting to destroy the human race.” Lyra said with delight.
“What do you mean?” I asked, not understanding.
“Anyone who dies after taking your blood turns into an undying abomination. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.”
“It serves those bastards right for trying to take my blood from me in the first place.” This must have something to do with all those individuals I felt when my domination skill upgraded. To think they would turn into undying monsters, though. Not that I care, hehehe.
“That’s right, that’s right! I knew you would understand me. Isn’t it fun to see people trying so hard to live even though they're weak? Watching them try to fight even though their end is inevitable. Just like you.”
Seeing as Lyra was going for my head, I reacted as fast as I could to dodge her blow. Manifesting another whip, I lash out at her legs, tying them together. With one motion I flung her into the same wall I was currently pinned against.
Crack
Now having a few seconds of freedom, I use disintegrate on the arrow. Falling a few feet to the ground, I look at my stomach to see my regeneration doing its job. In no time at all I was back to fighting shape.
Ugh, cough
“So amazing to have a fight where I can actually take damage.” She looked over in my direction. “Isn’t this fun?” She gave me a look you should only show to your lover after a great night.
As we were having our brief conversation, the enemy had completely surrounded us. Multiple mages casting spells with each of the soldier’s weapons raised in my direction.
“Hehehe, I’m guessing you all think you’ve won.” I glare at everyone. “Sadly for you, it couldn’t be any further from the truth.”
Activating shadow step I enter the dark world that is now a little easier to move in since the rank up. I jumped into the closest knight’s shadow, making my way towards the mages. Looking back, multiple spells of different affinities smashed into the ground where I was standing.
It’s always basic combat strategy to kill off the backline before you deal with anyone else. Some of them I’m sure know healing spells, so it’s better to deal with them fast.
“Where did she go?” One of the knights yelled as his blade slashed at thin air.
“No idea.” Another said.
“Don’t be idiots.” Lyra yelled. “She used a stealth ability of some kind; stay vigilant.”
“Yes, Duchess!” They all said in unison.
She’s a Duchess? Doesn’t that mean the older man who claimed to be the ruler here was the Duke? Is Lyra Gwen’s mother? I wonder.
Before any of them could make a solid formation, I acted, jumping out of one of the mages shadows. I grabbed a woman’s head, and with one motion, I ripped it off as if it was never attached at all. A fountain of blood erupted, covering the other mages in the fluid.
Scream Shriek
Multiple women and men panic, getting the attention of the other’s. After ripping a few more heads off, I smile at how the confident aura radiating off them earlier was starting to falter.
Locking eyes with Lyra, she still had that look on her face, but now it was one of envy. She truly is a sick individual. While killing has become a second nature of mine, I don’t enjoy it unless I’m tearing apart someone who deserves it. I have no idea what kind of people these soldiers and mages are, but they serve the wrong side.
