My Covenant - The Vicious Vampire Queen: Chapter 9

After a day of travel time, we finally arrived in the first city of the Tilum Kingdom. It was called Doiphia, and for the most part, it was a modest city with a large wall surrounding it. The appeal was much more mundane than the capital where I grew up. But I never even got to go out and run around. My only firsthand experience was traveling from Tilum to the Holy Kingdom when I was sold off.
Looking over to my side, I saw the excited face of Shuka as we made our way towards the city entrance. She had found out about her own ultimate skill on our way here, and she also got a soul book. That must be what the blood bond accomplished. It gives the people directly connected to me the ability to grow way beyond their means. She’s basically become this world's Fenrir.
Name: Shuka Voltaire
Race: Vampiric Wolf
Age: 19
Blood Bond - ♥Selene Voltaire♥
Ultimate Skill: Bestial Wrath (LV3)
Active Skills: Domination (LV1), Claws (LV1), Lightning (LV2)
Passive Skills: Ultra Regeneration (MAX↑), Heightened Senses (LV3), Super Strength (LV3)
Rank: Baron (Mirrored with Selene Voltaire)
For the most part we have the same skills except for a few. Instead of shadow step, she got lightning affinity. Her claws are also a lot more menacing than my nails. The cherry on top of it all is her own ultimate skill called Bestial Wrath.
It allows her to transform into a giant wolf that increases her lightning power even more. Just about everything about her multiplies many times over when she goes into that form. Shuka is pretty much my very own unstoppable mount that could probably destroy a small city.
The upgrades seem to match my own. So, if I put a fourth point into chaos magic, her bestial wrath would also upgrade to level four. Right now that’s just a theory, but it seems likely to be correct because of what it says under ranks. When she opened her soul book and saw hearts around my name, she got very bashful. Ever since then she’s had this blooming smile on her face.
I can’t help but keep looking at her in admiration of how strong her feelings are for me. Even though we have only known each other for twenty-four hours.
There were a few things I got out of her about the past. One was her parents fell in love on their first meeting as well; it’s something very common within the beastkin species. I’m not human, but more of a beast. So, I would probably be more likely to follow their customs than those of humans. Maybe that’s why I was so attracted to her scent when we first met.
The front entrance gate of Doiphia had inspections, but it was fine as long as it didn’t cost too much to enter. I had confiscated a large amount of gold coins from the Pope before I sent him off to the underworld.
During our conversation on the way here, I was told about the hatred other races have for each other in this world. Beastkin and humans have been mortal enemies for centuries, so showing her tail and ears would only bring problems.
I created both of us hoodies to match our current outfits that would allow Shuka to hide her cute parts.
My main goal in this city is to find some kind of organization that I could take over. I will dominate the one in charge and have that person turn everyone under them that is useful into more of my pawns. Creating a force in every city that surrounds the capital would be a great way to slowly show my presence to the world and make it much easier to storm that capital in the future.
Not to mention it will start to strangle the capital city of Tilum, cutting off their options to get resources from neighboring cities. Once I’ve established this net, then I will start my campaign to destroy the royal family one at a time, hahaha! I couldn’t help myself but feel very excited!
Walking up to the two guards at the front gate, I tossed one of them a gold coin with a warm smile. His face instantly went beet red as a little growl came from behind me. While Shuka was covering the majority of her face, I wasn’t. Personally, I wanted to find some idiots who thought highly enough of themselves to try to make any moves on me.
Humans were nothing more than my experience points for ranking up. That’s the only value they held within my eyes until they proved me wrong. But I highly doubt that will happen with most people being very greedy. If nothing else, human nature is something very predictable.
“Go right ahead.” The guard who received my gold coin just waved us in. Most others were thoroughly searched, but we weren’t. That’s pretty damn suspicious, but it could also be because I paid way more than the actual toll.
Turning back, I saw both of them staring us down as we walked through the gate towards the main city square. It’s something that has become very uncomfortable for me once I received my previous life memories. But what can I do about it? My vampiric gene gives me looks that rival the most beautiful. Plus, if they end up following us, it's like offering themselves up for consumption.
The first thing that caught my eye was the high amount of individuals in gear that I could only identify as adventurers attire. I even saw some females dressed up in witch’s clothing while carrying huge staffs that could rival a magical girl’s transformation form.
There were also many men and women who had light armor along with all types of sizes of swords. Archers, spearmen, and axe throwers—they were all here. Is there an actual adventurer’s guild around somewhere? Honestly, that was always one of my dreams in my past life: to be an adventurer and go on amazing journeys.
This was also a perfect target for my plan. To convert a guild master to my side and have them dominate any adventurers with talent would help bolster the power of my standing army by a great amount.
Scanning all around, it didn’t take too long to find the one building I was hoping to find. With big, bold letters on top of an enormous building dead center in the city square was the adventures guild.
“Shuka, let’s go there.” Before she could even respond, I pointed to that building, grabbing her hand and pulling her in that direction.
“Why are we going there?” Shuka blurted out as she was forced to follow.
“You might find it crazy, but I’ve read stories about these types of places and also envisioned myself becoming a part of one. I really want to experience it even if it’s just for a few days. Let’s become adventurers! I said with a bright smile as I turned back at Shuka. She gave me a complicated look.
“Are you sure about this? Adventurers have killed a lot of my kind. Most of them are dangerous people.”
“We're not exactly deer in headlights, Shuka?” I scoffed at her words.
“What’s a headlight?” Shuka asked with a cute tilt of the head.
“It’s nothing worth mentioning. I’m just saying we aren’t exactly weak, and I’m thinking of using this place as a starting point for my future plans.”
“Oh, I remember now; you did mention something about that. But could we actually trust these people?” The wolf girl asked quizzically.
“What does it really matter if we can’t trust them? Have you forgotten what I am and what I can do?” As I looked at Shuka, her eyes glinted with a sudden realization. “I will dominate the guild master of this place and then take over the whole city. It will be a piece of cake; just trust me.” At my words, I turned away from Shuka, who I pulled forward, still holding tightly to my hand, and pushed open the front entrance to the guild.
I always wondered if guilds portrayed in the many stories of my past were actually factually true. Would everyone inside the building turn and stare the second we both entered? Would some obviously cocky adventurers approach us and try to take advantage of our possible naivety? Look down on us for being a party of two girls.
The answer to all those questions is yes! But the way I got their attention was something I wasn’t expecting to happen.
Smash
With a loud bang at my emphatic entrance, I sent both doors flying in opposite directions, completely shattering the door frame. My first thought was, “Fuck!” I decided my best course of action would be to just play it off as if I did it on purpose. Not like it mattered anyway.
“Whoops, I guess I don’t know my own strength, or are these doors that weakly attached to the door?” I lied with confidence as everyone in the guild hall glared at me. There were about one hundred eyes currently on me. If I had to describe what I was seeing, I would say it looked like a gigantic saloon.
It had multiple rows of wooden tables and chairs. There was a long bar area with many stools along the back wall. To the left there was a massive board that displayed multiple jobs that people could take. To the right were the receptionists.
Honestly, this type of scenario in my past life might have caused me to pass out. But, for some reason, I felt nothing much for these people’s reactions. Is it because of the way I view humans now? After returning everyone’s stare with a face that gives zero fucks, I went towards the receptionist.
To my right I saw a group of five making their way towards us. Are clichés actually true, even in real life? Of course their destination was to block the path to our intended goal. All the males were over six feet tall, so they looked really large compared to my five feet nine inches. Shuka was even shorter than me by a few inches, but in her bestial form she was a towering building.
“What the hell, novices, do you even know where you are?” A man with red spiked-up hair shouted.
“Yes, but what’s your point?”
“Little girls like you could never cut it as an adventurer. Were you trying to show off your strength with that little display?” The man laughed mockingly as he looked around at the other people in the room. “What does everyone else think?” The room roared with boos, along with many hecklers commenting on their biased opinion.
“I bet those two barely got off their mother’s breast.” There was a booming of laughter that carried throughout the room.
“Look at the little one in the back; she’s too afraid to even show her face, and they think it’s possible to become an adventurer.”
“Their clothes are very unique. They must have rich parents who allow them to do whatever they want. But, honey, this life isn’t for some stuck-up rich kid.”
I can’t tell if they're being assholes because of how young we look or trying to get us to give up on a dangerous profession like adventuring. On the other hand, they could just be a piece of human garbage like most of that race.
“Hehehe” I couldn’t help but start to giggle at the absolute stupidity of these people, completely labeling us because of our appearance. “HAHAHA” As my laughing got even louder, the people within our surroundings started to get quiet.
Everyone in the room looks at me as if I were completely insane. Not one person was making a noise, completely silent. Except for my roaring laughter, this echoed throughout the building as I started feeling lightheaded at my pure enjoyment at the audacity of these people.
“I’m pretty confident that not one person in this room is worth much, not understanding when they're already inside of a tiger's mouth. If you can’t feel the threat coming off my body, then you should throw away your rights to being an adventurer.” I scoffed at the redhead. “Pathetic.”
At my words, I saw the man start bursting blood vessels as multiple veins started to pop out of his body as a weak aura permeated throughout. “You bitch!” He roared in fury, lunging in my direction.
