My Other Half - A story of Love and Revenge: Chapter 8

Haru

“The most important thing to remember is that magic will respond to your imagination. Like how I was having you create that small fireball earlier to help you work on mana control. Your mind is the greatest weapon when it comes to magic of any kind. Being able to realize what you want to create within your head is the first half of any spell. The second part is the mana you put into it. The more mana added the bigger and stronger spell you will create.”

“Do you know more than fire and that cleaning spell from earlier?” I asked.

“My affinity is with the fire element. Anything fire-related is extremely simple for me because it’s what I’m most attuned to using. Yours will probably be the same because of our similar mana, but there is a chance it can also be different.” Akari looked at me to see if I had any more questions.

“Let’s give this a try.” I said it with as much confidence as I could muster.

Once we reached our destination, Akari and I went off on our own to the very middle of the football field. The teacher seemed to completely ignore us or wasn’t worried with what we were doing. He made no effort in stopping us from leaving the rest of the class. Maybe he just wanted to get the weirdo’s who look like foxes away from everyone else.

Akari sat on the floor and patted the spot in front of her. “Put out your hands and link them with mine. “ I reached out and held both hands. “I’m going to circulate your mana within your body, and I want you to feel it.”

I nodded my head at her and started to feel this really weird sensation from Akari's touch. It flowed down my arms and then spread throughout my whole body. The longer Akari circulated my mana, the more I was starting to get these visions. They were of lightning strikes during a summer storm, and the streaks were red. My hair on my arms started to rise as static electricity flowed through my body.

Akari stopped circulating my mana and allowed me to do it myself. “Haru, keep with that feeling you have and try your best to control it.” I locked eyes with Akari, who had eyes full of emotion as she stared at me.

Random POV

“What in the world are those two freaks dressed like foxes doing?” A kid asked the coach.

“Who knows? It’s pretty obvious that they’re not in the right mind. It’s probably better that they go off on their own, then infect us with anything they might spread.” The coach said with contempt at these two stupid kids dressed up ridiculously.

“Coach, they have been making out all day in class; I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s their plan. I’ve had two classes with them, and they completely act as if they’re really foxes.”

“I heard from a friend that they received detention earlier for the girl sitting on the boy's lap during class. After they received detention slips, they kissed each other right in front of the teacher.”

“It sounds like they're going down a path of self-destruction.”

The students and coach continue to trash talk about the fox couple. But that’s when all hell broke loose. Everyone looked on as the two sat on the ground and held hands with each other. There was a red glow coming off both of them. All of a sudden the male burst out with red light and what looked like electricity coming off his body.

“What the hell is happening, coach?” A nervous student asked.

“I have no idea, but I think we should get out of here for now.”

Haru

I felt electricity coursing through my veins as if wanting to burst out, “Should I keep going?” I asked Akari, a little afraid for her safety.

“Don’t worry, Haru, you won’t hurt me. Keep going with what you’re feeling and harness it.” Akari looked on with admiration as Haru was manifesting lightning. Something that is extremely rare in her world.

I concentrated my mind back onto the electricity coursing throughout my body. The feeling of pure chaos was rampant, and I was having a hard time trying to rein it in. My first thought was trying to force everything into the very center of my body. With that accomplished, it should be much easier to control it. I tried using the flow of mana I remember feeling from Akari’s help earlier to force the lightning to my will.

All of a sudden I felt someone hug me from behind and rest their chin on my shoulder. “Haru, you’re doing great. Keep pushing your element to the center and create a ball.” Akari whispered in my ear, “By creating a center for your element to normalize within your body, it will become very easy in the future to utilize it.”

I felt Akari’s mana flowing weakly throughout my body, trying to guide me to the desired outcome. I was in my own little world listening to Akari’s encouragement, trying to build a core. The outside was pure hysteria with everyone running for the hills. Lightning was striking everywhere within a hundred-foot radius around us.

ZZZ PENG ZZZ PENG

The sound of electricity charging up and striking is all you could hear. The football field was a total wreck, and you couldn’t even tell what yard line you were on. Extremely dark clouds were starting to form above our heads.

After about twenty minutes of trying to push the lightning into the center of my body, the core started forming. I felt currents of pressure pushing into the core from all appendages on my body. The feeling of accomplishment started to burst within me as my element was coming to a homeostasis.

“You’re doing great, Haru; it’s just about there. Give it one more push, and you should be done.” Akari couldn’t feel happier seeing Haru succeed on his first attempt.

With Akari’s encouragement, I mustered up all the strength I could and centered my mind on one more big push. I controlled my entire lightning element to the center of my body and solidified it. Do it now. Don’t fail in front of Akari. I kept repeating those words in my head.

Everything around me became extremely silent. All the electricity in the air and the sounds of strikes on the ground stopped completely. My body felt euphoric as my lightning element settled into the core of my body. I looked at my hand and tried to conjure something. I saw red sparking in my hand.

“Amazing job, Haru, you did really well. It’s pretty rare to complete your core on the very first attempt.” She said as she hugged me tightly from behind while placing kisses on my neck.

“I had a great teacher guiding me, so it was probably hard to fail.” I said with a chuckle. Looking around at our surroundings, I sighed, “Looks like we should probably get out of here.”

“That would be a good idea. Let’s go deep into that forest from yesterday and find some place to make home for a few days.” Akari jumped up and pulled me in the direction of the forest.

“We sure gave everyone something to remember us by.” I said as I laughed with joy at completely destroying everyone's worldview who was currently present at the field today.

“Too bad they will never be able to figure out what happened. It will just be a story about two crazy people who were never seen again.” Akari laughed back.

The next five hours were spent trying to find a shelter deeper into the forest. Luckily we had come across a cave that was perfect for our accommodations. The depth wasn’t too deep and doesn’t look like too many animals have been here. This will be a safe place to train for a few days. We traveled in the opposite direction of our light show, so no one should come this way.

“This sticky feeling in the air is really horrible.” I said with a sigh.

“That’s one thing you will have to get used to, having fluffy ears and a tail. But don’t worry, I will show you how to take care of them.” Akari motioned to me as I laid my head on her lap.

We had already made our home inside the cave with Akari pulling out some interesting stuff from her space ring. She actually pulled out a whole bed, “My mom was nervous I was going so far alone and threw every single thing she could possibly think of into this ring.” Akari said with a smile as she looked off into the distance.

“Well, I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry.” I lay on the bed, putting my head back on Akari’s lap. She pulled out a brush and started brushing away. After a good while of stroking my ears, she started on my tail. I’ve never once been pampered the way Akari is currently performing on my body. But if she’s offering, I’m never going to deny it.

“How does it feel?” Akari asked.

“It felt fantastic, and I hope to have you do this many more times in the future.” I said with a smirk as I looked up at her.

“It would be my pleasure, Haru. I actually very much enjoy doing this.” She gave a bright smile while continuing to brush.

I sat up after Akari was done with me, as she started to groom herself. The feeling of wanting to pamper her grew greatly inside me as I watched. Then I looked at her wiggling toes hanging off the bed. We had walked a lot today; giving her a foot massage would probably be a great idea.

“Akari put your feet on my lap.” I suggest while patting my legs, “I want to do something for you as well, and this was my best idea.” As I look at her feet, I’m actually really excited about the idea of rubbing them. Maybe I have a foot fetish?

She obliged my request, and I started rubbing my hands over her cute feet. I would put pressure into my thumbs as I tried to massage every inch. My hands were running over the top and bottom to give her the best experience.

“Oh… wow… Haru, that feels amazing.” She had been giving off moans for the last few minutes because of my foot massage.

“I can do this whenever you want, Akari. It looks like you’re quite enjoying this with all that noise you've been making.” I said with a smirk and also hoped she would really call on me to do this more in the future.

“Alright Haru, I will hold you to that.” She said with a smile, not realizing that was always my intention.

“About how long will we stay out here, till we go to your world?” I asked curiously.

“Well, since you’ve already accomplished the hardest part, forming your core. We will have to work on your overall control of the lightning element. Like different ways of using lightning to attack an enemy and buff yourself. Lightning is very versatile with the ability to attack, defend, and buff. For example, you can shoot electricity at an enemy or cover your body in it and exceedingly boost your speed. There are also ways of using it as a shield, but I’ve never seen it before. Not very many people in our history have used lightning, so its overall uses are still unknown.” She said while looking up at the ceiling, still giving slight moans from the foot massage.

“It’s a really intriguing element. I can’t wait to have complete mastery over it and how that will look in the future. Is fire only offensive?”

“Yes, I mean, theoretically, you could make a firewall that could stop people in their tracks. But for the most part, it’s about blowing stuff up with great vigor.” She said with a maniacal laugh.

“You sure pack some impressive power. Those explosions last night were something else.” I said with admiration at her insane amount of damage she did to the surroundings.

“You will be able to rival my power in the future. We do both have the same amount of mana after all.”

“That’s right, how does your body feel now? I asked.

“I feel so much better, and my control over my mana increased by a huge margin. All those years of having to keep that power in check helped me greatly.” She said as she lunged at me, hugging my midsection.

“This will probably always be my favorite part of the day, until the end of time. Cuddling with you before we sleep really is the best.” My body reflexively hugged her back as we lay in bed holding each other.

“We should probably get to bed now and start early tomorrow. Goodnight, Haru.” She said while kissing my lips.

“Goodnight, Akari.” The feeling of love is still something so new to me, but it makes life worth living. This warm tingling feeling that is always present while near Akari must be what love truly feels like.
