My Other Half - A story of Love and Revenge: Chapter 6

Haru

“Akari, did you hear that?” I said with urgency.

“Yes, and it’s getting closer.” She said with a sigh. Akari got up and pulled out two sets of clothes out of nowhere. “Put these on, Haru.”

I took the clothes from Akari and checked them out. It was a black shirt with a silver-haired fox in the middle. Let me rephrase that; it was Akari’s face in the middle. “You might have done this as a joke, but honestly this will now be my favorite shirt. So you will have to look forward to me wearing it from now on.” I chuckled at Akari.

“I have no problem with you wearing it all the time.” She stuck her tongue out at me, completely unaffected by it. “Honestly, I’m going to have to get one of you made so we can match.” She said with a gleam in her eye. Akari once again reached into space and pulled out a hoodie with ears. “You will also need one of these as long as we're still in this world.” She smiled.

At that moment I just realized how much I had changed. Reaching my hand to the top of my head to rub my now fluffy ears, I was thrilled. Also, I could move them without much effort along with my wagging tail that was now protruding out of my backside.

I took the hoodie that Akari had offered me with glee. “How do you keep taking things out of space? Is it that ring on your finger?” I asked quizzically.

“Yes, I can get you one once we get to my world. It’s very helpful for a lot of things.” She said it with confidence.

“Awesome! I’m looking forward to getting one of those.” I said.

After dressing in the clothes Akari had provided. I looked over at her, who is now dressed in something completely different from earlier. She put on a one-piece white dress that goes down to her knees. It had blue outlines around the edges with gold symbols on certain parts. The dress slightly falls off the shoulders, showing off her upper arms held up by two straps. Above her tail, there is a golden bow. Finishing off her look, she put on flat wooden sandals.

“This is what I normally wear when I’m at home,” said Akari as she spun around to show off how she looked in her outfit.

“I know I’ve been saying this a lot today, but you really are beautiful. I'm really having a hard time not just fixating my gaze on you.” I said with a smile as I came up to Akari and hugged her.

“Haru, I can say with certainty that I would never get tired of you complimenting me, and you can look all you want.” She kissed my cheek. “We should get moving.”

“I will keep that in mind.” I nodded.

Akari grabbed my hand and started leading us in a direction where we wouldn’t run into any annoyances. I looked back one final time to admire the devastation that Akari caused. She even talked about holding back, and it was still this much damage. It was hard to really tell the magnitude of the destruction because it was getting dark outside. But I can say with certainty that everything within a mile in all directions is gone. My nose was slightly burning from the intense smell of smoke.

“Akari, you sure know how to put on an amazing light show.” I said with admiration.

“You can also do it. We’re pretty much on the same level of power now; the only difference is experience.” She gave my hand a tight squeeze. “Where should we go?”

“Hmm… I guess my house?” I said unsure because of my new appearance.

“That will work; we need somewhere to stay for a few days.” Akari pondered, “What do you think your parents will think of me?”

“I’m sure they would be extremely surprised I brought a girl home.” I sighed, “But at the same time, I’m not very close with my family. My mom and I do talk occasionally. But I don’t see my dad much at all.”

“Well, you have me from now on, and I will shower you with affection,” Akari said while grabbing onto my arm and snuggling into me.

“I’m really glad you came all this way to find me, Akari. I don’t know what I would have become if I had kept down that dark path I was traveling. Now the future looks so bright, and I’m really looking forward to my life with you.” I gave Akari a big smile that hasn't stopped for a long while now. She's literally my savior.

We continued flirting with each other while heading in the direction of my house. The people searching the area of the explosions never saw us leaving. So there should be no way to link us to what happened. But even if they did, it’s not like I will be staying here for much longer anyway. Arriving at my house, I unlock the door, and we both entered.

I don’t see any signs of my mom or dad currently being home. They must be out somewhere or just having dinner. Being alone is something I have gotten extremely used to over the years, and I actually feel the most comfortable that way. Well, at least until I met Akari; now I want to spend all my time with her.

“I guess they’re not home; did you want something to eat?” I asked.

“Sure.” Akari replied with interest.

“But I can’t really cook; I can only put something into the microwave.” I sighed at my inept ability.

“I have lots of food if you don’t want to cook anything.” Akari suggested.

“Alright, let’s go with that.” I feel like I already know what she’s planning to do.

Right on cue, Akari opened a rip in space with her ring. She pulled out what looked like a giant winged bird cooked on a platter. It smelled delicious, and I was also curious what kind of beast it was.

Akari smiled, “This is something that people in my kingdom eat regularly. It’s very good and considered a delicacy. From what I have seen food-wise in this world, it would most likely resemble a turkey or chicken.”

It dawned on me at this moment that a race full of beastkin probably eats a lot of meat. They have no use for all that healthy stuff that gets rammed down our throats in today’s society. Looks like I will be eating really well from now on, especially being with the princess.

“It looks and smells great; I can’t wait to try it.” I said with excitement.

Akari put down the plate, and we both sat down at the table to enjoy our meal. After taking one bite of the leg, the juiciness enveloped my mouth. It tasted very similar to a turkey. I felt a desire take over my body to devour this meat in front of me. Is this some kind of animal instinct that I now have? Giving in to that desire, I started tearing into the meat on the table. Once I was about halfway finished, I looked over at Akari. She was also going all in on another huge portion she had brought out.

Under normal circumstances, I would feel a bit disgusted watching someone else eat this way. But honestly, because it’s Akari, I can’t help but feel turned on by her actions. Some part of me wants to go over and start licking the juices off her face. Akari looks over at me with a predatory smile. Suddenly, she jumps out of her seat and sits on my lap with her body facing mine.

We looked at each other in the eyes for a few seconds, and then she started to lick around my mouth. Her wet tongue is sliding all over the edges of my lips. I replied to her actions by doing the exact same thing. This turned into another amazing make out session, where we licked each other’s faces with insane vigor. After about five minutes of enjoying each other’s taste, I heard the front door open. I saw both of my parents with wide-open mouths at the scene they had just walked in on.

“Hi, Mom and Dad, how was your day?” I asked with worry about their reaction as Akari turned and looked at them.

“I’m guessing not as well as yours.” My dad said while my mom stayed silent.

“That’s true.” I replied to my father, “You couldn’t even imagine how amazing my day went, or maybe you can?”

“Haru, why do you both have ears and a tail?” My mother asked, concerned.

“Well… Do you want the long or short version?” I asked.

“How about we start with the short version and go from there?” My father demanded.

“This girl here is named Akari, and she came from another world to find her mate. Once Akari got here, she was able to locate me by her innate instinct. After we got to know each other throughout the day, I decided to bond with her. After that, I had my body altered into a half fox, half human hybrid. So now she’s pretty much my wife and soul mate. That’s about it, Akari. Did I forget anything?” Hearing everything that had happened today out of my own mouth, I still felt astonished hearing it said aloud.

“Nope, that covers all the details.” She said with a smile while still sitting on my lap, unwilling to release her hug around me.

My parents just stood there dumbfounded. I can understand how coming into this current predicament would look to someone on the outside. If they can’t accept it, I guess we can always just leave. They have never really given me that great of a childhood, and I don’t feel like I owe them anything.

“So you’re both monsters?” My mother asked with a complicated look on her face.

“I mean yes and no, but more correctly we’re Beastkin. There’s no reason for you to worry about it, though, because I plan on leaving in a few days.” I said with confidence.

“Leaving… Do you really expect me to believe this girl is from another world?” My dad asked, frustrated.

“This is crazy, Haru; you just bring some random girl into our home. She put all these crazy things into your head and now dresses you ridiculously.” Mom said with a scowl.

“What gives you the right to say that about your daughter-in-law?” I said with annoyance.

“Were your parents, and what we say is law. You must respect us; we know what’s best for you.”

“If that was true, why did you always allow me to suffer? How many times did I come home from school wishing to die and having bruises all over? You wouldn’t even stand up to the school to help your son, who was struggling with those assholes.” I said with rage, “That’s your best!”

Akari leaned against my chest and put her arms around my neck. “I’m here for you, Haru.” She whispered in my ear.

Feeling Akari’s warmth from her words and body, I was able to calm down. What kind of parents are these only enacting their rule over me when it doesn’t matter? But the moment I truly need them, they’re nowhere to be found. Once I leave this place, I’m sure I will forget about them in no time.

“It’s complicated, Haru.” My mother said.

“What’s so complicated about looking after your son’s well-being?”

“It’s because of who they are; one of them is my boss's son.” Dad replied with a solemn look on his face. It gave off the feel of indifference to my plight.

“So you’re allowing his son to have free rein over terrorizing me? Where does this fall under the parent knowing what’s best for their kids? Are you suggesting I should allow them to destroy my life on a daily basis? So you’re able to keep your employment.” I said as I was livid at the utter bullshit explanation.

“Yes, I agree that doesn’t help you out in any way, Haru. But jobs are hard to come by nowadays, and this one pays very well. I refuse to ruin it over some petty squabble between teenagers.”

“If that’s how you truly feel, I will be out of your way soon. So you don’t have to worry about this useless son costing your precious job.” I stand up, lifting Akari with me, who held on; she put her legs around my waist. This new body sure did give me some great strength. Akari feels as light as a feather. We headed to my room and left my parents behind speechless.

Once I entered, I lay on my bed, with Akari next to me. I cuddled into her, and she reciprocated. Being able to experience her warmth is really comforting. Having someone who will support you no matter the situation is a great feeling. It’s something I have always craved for and wanted but could never receive until today. The hate I was feeling earlier just washed away as if it was never there.

“I’m sorry you had to hear that, Akari,” I said with sadness in my voice.

“Don’t worry, Haru. It’s the partner’s job to comfort them in their time of need.” She started kissing my hand she was holding, “I will always be here when you need me.” She said softly.

“I feel the same way, Akari.” The care that she gave me allowed my body and mind time to relax. I fell asleep shortly after that.
