My Other Half - A story of Love and Revenge: Chapter 3

Haru

We just sat there as she leaned into me for the next few minutes, “You know, I would never allow anyone but you to touch my ears. It’s considered an intimate act. If a random person dared to touch them, they would have lost their hand.” She said with confidence at the outcome.

“Well, I can’t say that I don’t feel honored. All day long I was wondering why you were being so close with me. From my experiences, it made me wonder if you had a hidden agenda.” I said as I put my arm around her to see how she would react. To my surprise, she just cuddled deeper into my embrace as if she expected it from the start.

“I can’t say I don’t have a hidden agenda, but it was never to bring any harm to you. My only goal for even coming to this school was you from the start.” She looked up at me with her sharp blue eyes.

“Does this make us a couple now?” I looked back at her, wondering.

“Of course it does!” She said with certainty in her tone.

Ding Ding Ding

“I guess it’s time for fifth period.” I said with a sigh, not really wanting to let this moment go.

We both got up, and she grabbed my hand. I looked at her with a smile as we started walking towards our next class. At the same time, there was an officer coming in our direction. If he's targeting us, it must be because of what happened at the start of lunch.

“I need the both of you to come with me right now.” He had a solemn face that looked at us with disdain for some reason.

“For what purpose? I asked the officer.

“Just follow me.” He said in a tone of finality.

I looked over at Akari, and she nodded her head. So I decided to just follow and find out what’s going on. Once we got to the school’s main office, we were brought into a room with the cop and two other kids. Of course, it’s the two who were uninjured from the earlier conflict between us. They had dumb smiles on their faces, as if they had already won.

The officer looked at us. “I’m sure you know now why you’ve been brought here.”

“I don’t have any idea who these two are.” I said with confidence as I pointed at the other people in the room.

“That’s not what they said, and we also have a third with a fractured right leg.”

“I’m not following how that has anything to do with us; we have been minding our own business.”

“Well, we actually have a video of both of you at the scene.” The cop said with a knowing look.

“I bet this so-called video doesn’t show anything.” I said with contempt, remembering how fast Akari moved. There was no way that a video could have caught her in the act. “Are we able to view that video?”

“Sure, I will put it on the screen.” The cop played the scene where the three guys were talking to Akari. Then I come out of the bathroom, she runs over to me, and we walk away. One of the three started to run at us and jumped into the air to kick me in the back. All of a sudden he gets slammed into the ground, and you can see his right leg was in an odd shape. It seemed as if Akari didn’t even move; there was the slightest glitch if you watched very closely.

“Where does the video show we were in the wrong? If anything, the guy who was trying to kick me in the back deserves punishment.” I said with anger at them trying to put a false charge on us. Akari was just nodding her head next to me.

“It’s true that it doesn’t show either of you making any movement, but it’s really strange what happened to the boy.” Said the officer, bewildered by what he saw.

“I admit that it’s weird, but we’re innocent. All we did was walk away from them.” I exclaimed.

After the cop thought about it for a few minutes, “Both of you are free to go.” The cop said, waving his hand.

“But that’s bullshit; they did something. I know it!”

“There’s no doubt they're behind this incident.”

“Shut up, all we have is your word against theirs, and the video you said that had proof showed nothing.” The officer sighed while glaring at them.

“Alright, Akari, let’s get out of here.” I stood up and held out my hand.

“Yes, let’s go, Haru.” She grabbed it, and we walked out of the office.

“Your actions in defending me in there, Haru, were sexy, but I was guilty.” She said with a smirk.

“I know you were, but with that speed, how could they even tell it was you? I remember when it happened; I couldn’t believe how fast you moved.”

“Maybe someday, you will also be able to move that fast.” She gave a knowing look with a wink.

“That would be pretty amazing, but probably only in my dreams.” I gave a chuckle.

“You never know, Haru; some dreams do come true.” She said with certainty.

“This day is the most glaring fact that dreams do sometimes come true.” I confirmed to Akari.

She just gave me a big smile as we continued to walk to our fifth period. The rest of the day was uneventful with the occasional weird stare at how close Akari was with me. As we’re walking out of the last class of the day, I thought about what I should do after school. Spending more time with Akari would be a lot more fun than going home and doing nothing special.

“Did you want to do something after school?” I asked Akari.

“Sure, how about we go into the forest behind the school? I could show you what I look like without this hoodie.” She suggested.

“That sounds great,” I quickly replied with expectation written all over my face.

The deeper we went into the forest behind the school, the more nervous I became. I’m sure putting a lot of faith in someone I just met today. On the other hand, it has been one of the best days of my life. So if I do die by her hand, well, I guess it was just my time. But I have this strong feeling; she won’t do anything to harm me.

I wonder where she came from and how no one has ever seen her kind. For them to be living in this world is pretty crazy. Did she possibly come from another world? That's a crazy thought, but one that makes the most sense.

After we went a good thirty minutes into the forest, Akari said, “This should be a good enough distance from people.” She took off her hoodie and threw it at me. I did the most irrational thing I did all day and smelled it.

“You really have such a great scent, Akari. Also, I’m sorry for being perverted; I just couldn’t help myself.” I looked down in shame.

“There's no problem at all with the way you’re acting. I’m more flattered than you think because having your mates sent on you is a very natural thing. It’s like marking your territory so other suitors know you’re off limits.” She said reassuringly.

At the same time, the word 'mate' kept ringing in my mind. Looking at her appearance, I was stunned. Akari’s has silky silver hair with fluffy, sharp-looking ears, and those beautiful sapphire eyes that really pop once she lets her hair cascade down her back. This was the first time I got to see her cute and fluffy tail that I just wanted to cuddle with.

“That’s great to know!” I said as I looked at Akari with her goddess-like appearance, “You’re really beautiful, Akari. I love the ears and tail; they really bring you to another level. It’s a shame you have to hide them.”

“Well, I only have to hide them for now because your world doesn’t actually have Beastkin.” She corrected.

“What do you mean by your world? Are you actually not from here?” I asked, surprised by this revelation.

“Nope, I’m from a completely different world, and I’m sad to say we aren’t as advanced. On the other hand, if my world invaded this one, it would probably get taken over within a week. Humans of this world aren’t that powerful, and just my kingdom alone could overrun it.”

“Are you the scouting party for taking over this world?” I asked, wondering what her end game was.

“Like I told you earlier, Haru, the only reason I came here was you. I was told about this place by our kingdom's oracle, which has the ability to see futures. She said my other half was in another world. My body is currently going through issues, and I need to be able to imprint on my partner to release this burden.” She said with a solemn look.

“That’s a lot to take in." I couldn't help but be impressed that she literally jumped worlds to find me. "What do you mean by imprinting, and can you tell me what that burden is?” I asked curiously.

“My body has more mana than anyone in my world. I could literally drown the number two most powerful like it was nothing. That high amount isn’t stable. Whenever I try to use magic, it can very easily go out of control. I need someone to balance it out, and that’s why I have come looking for you. When it comes to the imprinting bond, it’s a union of two souls to live together until our end. That’s how pairing between mates occur inside the beastkin race. We have this saying that we only have one mate in our lifetime. If you’re unable to find that person, then you will most likely die alone. When I heard my fated partner was in another world, I was pretty depressed. Until I found a way to get here, and that’s when I arrived in this world a few weeks ago.” She looked at me with desire written all over her face.

There’s no way I can deny it anymore; this girl really came from another world. With the way she looks and everything she has just said. She definitely wants me to follow her back. Would I actually leave and go to some unknown world with a cute fox girl waifu? Hell yes I would, but I’m very nervous to take that step. My attachment to this world is pretty slim, and I’m sure my parents would be happy to get rid of the responsibility.

“I’m completely speechless about what you just said to think I would have a fated partner.” I look at her, who seems nervous about the current situation, and say, “You’re going to want me to come back with you, right?”

She nodded her head, “Yes, Haru, it would mean a lot to me. We don’t gradually fall in love with our mate over time; it’s all in from the start once we find them.”

“How are you so sure that I’m your person?” I asked.

“I felt it two days ago when I happened upon you buying items at a store. The best way I can describe it is instinct. I just feel so drawn to you and want to keep putting my scent all over your body. That’s why I was so assertive all day long with getting so close to you. It’s just something natural for our kind to mark our territory. The same way you enjoy my scent, I get the same feeling from yours.” She said with a smile.

The feeling in my chest is so strong right now, and I already know the outcome of this conversation. I don’t have it in me to deny this girl. She’s literally someone from a dream with how perfect this situation is turning out.

“Akari…” I paused and looked at her hopeful eyes. “There’s nothing I would wish for more than to spend the rest of my life with you. Honestly speaking, you’re too perfect for me. So I’m just afraid you’re making a mistake.”

She lunges at me, giving a huge hug. “Haru, we’re really going to have to work on your confidence. You don’t have to worry about me losing interest in you. Like I said earlier, we fall for our mate all the way from the start and don’t ever go back on that.”

I hugged her back tightly. “Then, I look forward to our amazing life together, Akari.” The fact that this is probably moving way too fast is very obvious to me. But giving up on this opportunity is not something I’m willing to do.

Akari’s ears go straight up as her tail gets stiff. She looked in a certain direction. “Haru, we’re about to have company.”

I looked over in the direction Akari was observing and noticed three people coming out of the bushes. It’s those bastards from homeroom who have been annoyances in my life for as long as I can remember.

“No wonder she didn’t want anything to do with us earlier. She’s just as much of a freak as you are. Why would you dress up as a fox for this loser and prance around for him?” The leader, Douche, said in disgust.
