Weekly Journal (July 29th)

Morning y'all! I hope your week is off to a delightful start. I have updates for you.

For starters, I finished up Lushfoil Photography Sim, that game we played here on stream a few weeks ago and let me tell you... I wasn't prepared for what was to come. This one snuck up on me and impressed me in ways most games don't. It made me want to pick up an entirely new hobby outside of playing the game itself which is not something most games do haha.

You can see some of the photos I took from the game above and these all happened and look as good as they do because the game seamlessly showed me how to do it. I never understood exposure or lighting or ISO or any of those things, now I do. One of my favorite things is taking long exposure photos to capture movement which is how in that one picture all of the fireflies have those long trails of light. I NEVER KNEW THATS HOW PHTOTOGRAPHERS DID THAT.

What this games does is make you see the world differently. You don't just see landscapes and trees and statues and lakes. You notice that the mountain is reflected in the water. You notice that from certain angles, something beautiful becomes a moment in time. You notice ways to make images becomes heartbeats. This game remolds your brain into a photographer's mind. It's endlessly cool. I'm probably talking about it in the next video.

In other news! I'm soooo close to finishing Final Fantasy VI, I think I have 2-3 side dungeons/missions left and then I'm on to the finish. It has been everything people told me it was. I'll share my thoughts on it in the next post most likely once I'm finished.

I also started The Last of Us Part 2! I somehow managed to avoid spoilers for it entirely up until this point and WHOA MAMA I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. Yeah I'm 3 hours in and I can already tell what kind of ride this is going to be lmao. I'm aiming to finish this and Obra Dinn in August. I'll likely also start up Bloodborne once those are done. Speaking of the backlog...

The regular Twitch streams are coming back! I mean it this time lol, the schedule will finally allow it. Once a week, we're backlogging and if I had to guess, Bloodborne will be the first long series. Look for those to start August 21st over on https://www.twitch.tv/daryltalksgames and start around 4PM CST every Thursday.

I'll be brainstorming and writing the next video over the next two weeks, expect to see it uploaded on August 23rd!
