2025-04-23 22:08:05 +0000 UTCI think this has been a cluster from the start because what Trump and his advisor are saying why they doing something is not actually the reason why they are doing it. On the Political front these Tariffs were supposed to be about money (to lower income tax), Trade Deficits, and bring back manufacturing jobs. At least that is the message because it is popular with Union voters and Young Voters (who have few legit job prospects). However, if you look at the roll out (stupidly high rates for everyone, instead of just on a few big abusers) and the fact when countries come to the Trump team to create a deal there is no template to use. It is because this whole thing is not about Tariffs, Trade Deficits, and Jobs. It was about trying to create a new Bretton Woods System.
