Bookstore Set
Added 2018-02-21 17:30:34 +0000 UTCSo yea...there's this. My beautiful bookstore that has been rendered useless by the toddler patch. This is one of those in-between projects because bookstores are really not functional until EA fixes the issue of Sims pulling the for sale books off the shelves, reading them, then leaving them scattered all over the lot.
You can see here I've updated a LOT of books so that they've got a display version that matches it's cover when put on a retail shelf. A few books I could not override for some reason, so they have a duplicate book you can buy that will.
The top photo is a pic of the books that I had originally come with the set, I've updated them to share textures so they're way smaller. The other books are from another set I had to remake but I decided to just merge them into this set to give you a few more options
I would REALLY like to make these functional. Maybe make some new magazines that you can grab off of them or something. Maybe make a few recolors for some variety...what do you guys think?
So to sum it up for this is what I have done:
- New retail shelves
- Make proper display versions for all books
- Deco books to fill out shelves
And this is what I'd like to work on next for the project:
- Magazine Rack - functional like a bookshelf or make so you can set individual magazines on like a display and if I do that then...
- Magazines - what kind of perks from reading, what types of magazines etc.
- Aisle signs - need to decide on type (hanging from ceiling, sit on surface, etc
- Deco book stacks - basically separated stacks from the display version with a cover version for each book in game so far
- Deco book stand in 3 sizes - to allow you to display deco books to fill out shelves or sell books from if you really want
- Deco books - single book with all game book covers

I agree with all of this. I have a cafe that looks like a book store right now and I actually like it better than trying to run an actual book store. I can never have enough book clutter though, so more variety is always great! I really miss the magazines from Sims 2.
2018-02-22 12:15:16 +0000 UTCYou can only do what the you can with constraints you have, Sell-able or not most bookstores also have a coffee shop so it can be done like that to be more like a store, however it will make an excellent Library. I like the Magazine racks. I love book deco so I am sure some of my other book deco will work on the shelves as well. I do think some recolors are in order for the racks though.
