Grrl Power #1300 - Zeroing

Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

Happy Halloween! Everyone dress slutty!

FYI, the final panel is what you get if you type "Stick that rocket up their ass!" into google translate and tell it to Arabic it. I have minimal faith in the accuracy of that translation. It probably says something like "That branch and rocket are in the rectum!" But from Peggy's point of view, if she could hear what they were saying at that distance and over the noise of the engine, she's hear a bunch of Arabic "blah blah blah-ing." She doesn't speak Arabic or Farsi or Pashto or anything. Well, like 2 dozen words in each. The kind of stuff you couldn't help picking up if you were living and working among native speakers.

I'm going to point this out because it becomes relevant in a few pages, but that truck has a sunroof. Now, I've never lived in Afghanistan, but I have lived in Texas for over 40 years, and I have used the sunroof in my various cars for a grand total of roughly 48 seconds. Basically just to confirm that they work, and that on this one day of many, it's not like walking into a schvitz or a sauna when you go outdoors. While Afghanistan is a little further north than Texas, it's also posted some pretty impressive record heat numbers over the years. My point is, I'm not sure how much use I'd get out of a sunroof there. It's also entirely possible I just don't care for sunroofs in cars. I like my environment conditioned and a little external noise as possible. I'm not a window's down kind of guy either. And I suppose if I regularly drove around with guys in the bed of the truck, hanging on to my aftermarket rollbar thingy, I might have the top open so we could yell back and forth easier.

great use for a sunroof...until it rains. after that there's nothing left but regret

Sardines are us

I do not think it was the rifle being out of zero so much as the shooter being out of zero.

Ampws

I am kinda meaning to be a nit picker, but I don't think the $6,000 Schmidt & Bender PM II scope on a M110A1 CSASS would be knocked that far out of zero merely from being thrown around some while in a padded rifle case. Or I would really, really hope not, given how much it costs.

Shyster

Elon Musk has pretty consistently done the worst and/or stupidest thing imaginable with regards to Twitter, so...

Kevin Wright

I misspoke above, Twitter has changed their TOS to include "the right for us to..//.. for use with and train of our machine learning and artificial intelligence models, whether generative or another type." So it depends on how you feel about AI "Art". I am strongly opposed to the current system and consider it theft so yeah my bad.

Mathew Aaberg

By the hole in the windshield, the bullet lost very little energy going through; regardless of what's in the headrest, there should be a hole somewhere in the rear window.

alphanor

I'm wondering if Dabbler is part of an orgy, if she just gets tantric energy from her current partner, or every participant? Probably the latter, since she seems to get energy from things like other people talking to each other about sex (just not much).

Mark Magagna

- Get back to car, which has been sealed. - get in, leave driver's door open - possibly open the other doors too. - Start car - open all windows and sunroof. Mine are powered, so you can't do that until this step - turn air vents to full blast. There's hot air in there too. - wait until the vents actually blow cool before closing things up

Mark Magagna

How far you get with a leak depends on if you keep the vehicle moving. It's likely not the first thing on their minds, but even if things go well for them (and we know things didn't go well), they'll likely have no coolant left at all by the time they try to leave.

Mark Magagna

Various companies have posted really bad TOSs like that in the past and they've never held up. Besides, I don't post my comic there, just a link to it and a panel from a page. I don't imagine they're trying to claim they own anything linked on twitter.

Dave Barrack

Or Cora's entire crew.

Person

I think his name is Altus or Atlas or something. Honestly, I can't keep track of all the names. It was never my strong suit.

Mathew Aaberg

ASMR. A fancy term for getting a chill up one's spine.

eddi_TBH

The first dictionary coverage of a catawampus-like word is actually a phrase. From John Bartlett, Dictionary of Americanisms, first edition (1848), page 66: CATAWAMPTIOUSLY CHAWED UP. Completely demolished, utterly defeated. One of the ludicrous monstrosities in which the vulgar language of the Southern and Western States abounds. [Example:] In this debate Mr. B. was 'catawamptiously chawed up;' in his arguments were not only met, but his sarcasm returned upon himself with great effect. —Charleston [South Carolina] Mercury

eddi_TBH

She was skipping the boring stuff and some heartfelt swearing on her part.

eddi_TBH

They cannot fire the RPG on the move anyway and hope to hit what's left of the chopper. That's where the sun roof comes in. An illusion of safety crouched in the cab.

eddi_TBH

Headrests have a flat metal post for adjustments. If the bullet hit it just right the exit hole may be in the side window.

eddi_TBH

Dabbler too, lol. Dazzler's just gonna spread the disco fever 😉

Michael Obert

Google translate can work well if you translate and then reverse it. If the translation back to English sounds funky, its probably funky. Use a synonym and try again. I've fooled my mom and sister on how good my translations are by doing that.

Don Satow

Remember, she had a potion or something that enabled her to...accept...Frix. Something similar may help her handle the 8.

Tim Starliper

I have a sunroof and will partially open it and roll down the front windows when the car has been baking in the sun all day. Even with a 'sun shade', it still gets rather toasty in there. Opening the sun roof and front windows gives the trapped heat multiple exits. Since heat rises, the sun roof probably helps the most.

Tim Starliper

That's why she needs that potion from Xuriel that makes her all stretchy. ..... I'll show myself out xD

Cha0sniper

Just Sydney with a bright red face surrounded by 8 Frixes xD

Cha0sniper

The shot through the radiator will disable the engine, but not for several minutes. Engines can run without coolant for longer than you think. I blew a hose on my Hyundai and lost all the coolant on the Interstate but I was able to drive to a mechanic several miles away without permanent damage to the engine.

Opus the Poet

Hi Dave, just wondering if you will be moving away from twitter like many artists due to the new "twitter basically owns everything you post" terms of service. I found you from there and dont want you to lose your IP just because twitter are assholes.

Mathew Aaberg

Aaaaah, I've missed the eye-flutter.

Tim

That is some impressive condiment art

Fogel

I like Frix.

Hugh Eckert

Is it just me, or is Frix making hard eye contact with... with... the red guy, whasisname there?

Person

We found a Sydney fetish! I repeat, we found a Sydney fetish! Now carry on with your day.

Seth Ruskin

I had actually intended to draw that but I guess I got distracted with other details. Maybe the bullet hit something metal in the headrest? Then the splat went over and around the headrest and quickly dripped down?

Dave Barrack

Uh, yeah. Unless that truck had armored glass behind the driver should there not be some damage to the glass? With that much raspberry jam smeared, even if his skull deflected it, that round should still have had enough kinetic energy to have cracked the glass at least.

Andrew Munn

well the round had already gone through a windshield first then a air gap, then a skull - that'll significantly slow and destabilize a bullet

Sardines are us

Have we ever seen Peggy's fruit salad? Because, IMO, we're getting up into Medal Of Honor territory here.

MaxBigfoot

I was going to say the same thing. Being behind someone shot with a high-powered rifle can be life threatening.

alphanor

All it would take if a Grrl Power version of that still of a woman sitting on a couch with a bunch of men standing behind it

ArendJK

I am not meaning to be a nit picker but her shots would have over penetrated and likely maimed whoever was standing behind her target. In real life over penetration is a thing, rounds do not just go up to a target and stop.

Ampws

Not that Sydney needs any help being distracted.

Anton Schleef

Yep, I can definitely see that.

Anton Schleef

Perhaps an irrelevant little tidbit, but sunroofs don't actually seal! They have drains that run down the pillars and into the wheel-wells. What probably happened was those drains got clogged with pollen or similar. It's something I've had happen before. They can sometimes be cleared out with compressed air or a long wire.

Hurley

I've never had a vehicle with a sunroof, but I do this with the regular door windows. I don't even live in the South, but a few hundred miles North of you guys and still find it a huge help.

Anton Schleef

I'm more co cer Ed that zdabler would want to direct the action, as Sydney seems to have a rather limited, (by Dabbler's standards) level of sexual experience. I could just see her, in an old style directors chair, with a script in one hand, old style megaphone in another, shouting instructions to her "actors", a coffee in another hand, while handing some unmentionable toy to an assistant to give to her "actors" for use, wearing a classic 1920's style directors outfit, including that weird little hat. And as for me using all her arms in the description? Well, we all know, "Four armed is for warned..." or something like that...

JasonAW3

Seriously though, the sunroof in my car is something I never think about, so cracking it to vent heat never occurs to me. Well, the only time I thought about my sunroof is when the summer heat warped the glass or the rubber seal or something and from then on it leaked when it rained, until I took some caulk and sealed that bastard up forever.

Dave Barrack

"All your base are belong to us?" Or at a rave, "All your bass are belong to US!!!"

JasonAW3

Good lord, have been dumb! I live in Oklahoma and never considered doing that with my sun roof! High IQ my butt! Lack of common sense can truly suck...

JasonAW3

That's how the SUN GETS IN!

Dave Barrack

Well, considering that she shot through the radiator, into the engine, yeah I think they're kinda at a standstill.

JasonAW3

Hmm so anyway about those vote incentive and this "petite blonde woman" thing… Sorry, sorry. I'm being distracted.

Cley Faye

Yeah. They ain't gonna hit sh!t with an RPG while that vehicle is moving, and if they stop long enough to allow for loading and prepping the launcher, much less aiming and firing, Peggy should have plenty of time to pick them off, providing she doesn't collapse from blood loss or some such. Of course, enough time has passed that we should see an American response unit checking out the crash site.

Town Crier

Can't believe Peggy has to tone down her skill for the official reports and retellings just to not bruise egos and super egos.

BJ

Dave, you don't use the sunroof to vent hot air? I live in the South, too, and I've often left the sunroof cracked open to help release hot air from the car when parked in the sun. I'll also leave it open when I first get in the car and start the AC as a place for the hotter air inside the car to exit more quickly. Only once the car has cooled down inside do I it. It's anecdotal, but it seems to help cool the car more quickly.

Hurley

I initially read that 'Zeroing' as 'Zerowing' and wondered if we were about to get an 'All Your Base' reference. I may be a bit tired.

Simon Magid

Good on them for properly securing the case. Safety first!

Andrew

I like how Sydney's eyes are aimed right at lapha while she exclaims that it's not personal.

Liam Meara

I mean we have seen what Dabbler does to partners with actual super powers. If she's just one of eight running a train on Sydney who does, one should point out, not actually have super powers, she's got orbs that give her powers which is not the same thing, most notably it means she doesnt get the 'standard power' package of a near superhumanly fit and athletic body and the presumed stamina/energies to match... Yeah Sydney's just going to die.

Aclys

Heh, Sydney has sex on the brain

William Elliott

Sydney surrounded eight to one:”I can take em.” Maxima:”in a fight right.” Sydney:”…” Maxima:”in a fight right?!?” Now that would be a sight dabbler would like to see. Assuming she’s not one of the eight about to wreck Sydney.

TrixieTurner

Goosebumps, becoming extremely aware of his presence, breath on her neck, memories evoked of other times he's been that close. Slightly, just ever so slightly, distracting.

Triad Draykin

Sydney keepin' it weird and haven't it come back on her, sweet karma, lol. And, yes, cattywampus is a great word!

Michael Obert

I think they might want to reduce the time Sydney spends with Dazzler. I think a lot of Sydney's repressed urges, which is saying something for Sydney are coming out.

Demian Buckle

i like to partially open my car's sunroof while parked to vent the heat out of the car. also what is Sydney's reaction to her boyfriend saying that? it looks like she's skeeved out
