[God of Games] 9 – Life of a Small Skaven and Murder Hobo
Added 2025-07-25 00:33:18 +0000 UTC[Small Skaven's POV]
It had only been two days since the small rat had been blessed by the God of Games, yet in this time, it had skittered nonstop through the labyrinthine tunnel searching for food or bugs to eat.
It has gained two levels in that time and has grown from a relatively small Skaven to one of average size.
It was unyielding in its efforts as it hunted other Skaven or their lesser rat-kin, and it was all because of the words that lingered in the corner of its vision.
[The God of Games has issued you a quest!]
[Reach level 15. Reward: Class]
It did not know what a ‘class’ was, but the word gave off the feeling of strength and might.
It was only level three, but it was so much stronger than it used to be, and it gained strength from a concept it understood: survival of the fittest. With each kill, it grew in strength, and when it reached enough, it would become stronger.
Despite leveling twice, the Skaven placed all ten of its points directly into strength, which made it vastly stronger than nearly every other Skaven it had encountered.
With 13 strength, its strength rivaled that of a human, and with the strength increase, it went from a sickly, frail Skaven to a rather muscular and fit Skaven.
By the end of the week, it had reached level fifteen and was so much stronger than it once was.

It had become a big Skaven, stronger, faster, more enduring than any other Skaven, and now? It had a following, more than two dozen small Skaven followed him around as he hunted the larger abominations that lived in the Warrens.
Things such as flesh abominations, giant rats, bats, snakes, and other relatively large monsters, and as much as it liked to deny, its followers were of some help, even if it meant that their only purpose was bait or meat shields.
With or without their help, the ‘Big Boss’ had killed and slaughtered so many things without a care or reason that it had reached level 15 faster than that of the only other follower of the God of Games.
[Quest Completed! Select one of the following classes]
[Warrior: Specialized in close quarters combat, Warriors are the frontline of any army and sometimes the main component of said army, as even the dumbest of peasants could become a strong warrior with time.]
[Rogue: Masters of being sneaky, Rogues are the most likely to stab you in the back or attack you from the shadows, as while they possess great agility and reaction, they have little in the way of strength or endurance, making most of them typically glass cannons.]
[Hunter: Specialized in tracking, scouting, and hunting, those who specialize in the Hunter class become absolute menaces in the wild due to their great perception and agility, but the class loses many of its advantages in civilized societies]
[Mage: A class for those that specialize in the mystical, those that typically choose these classes become dreamers or mad men with their sole strength being the magics and mana they wield]
[Priest: A class for those who devote themselves to a God or a Pantheon of Gods, those who choose the priest class, while relatively weak most of the time, gain strength based on their patron’s divinity and power]
The Rat didn’t understand the words laid out in front of it, so it chose its class by feel alone, and as a rat obsessed with strength, it was apparent which class it would choose.
[Warrior Class chosen]
[+3 Strength, +2 Agility, and +3 Free Stats Per Level]
[You have gained two skills: Mighty Blow and Taunting Presence]
[Mighty Blow (Active): Surpass the power of your body and muscles to deliver even greater blows against your foes. Cost: 10 Stamina Per Use]
[Taunting Presence (Passive): The hallmark of the Warrior Class, you grate the nerves of those around you, making many view your face as rather punchable. Will draw the attention of your foes away from others and focus them on you.]
It didn’t know what the words meant, and proceeded to ignore them in favor of smashing one of the smaller Skaven that had finally gained the confidence to try and attack, clawing at its face. With a mighty blow, the small Skaven that attacked the ‘Big Boss’ had its entire skull caved in.
[God of Games congratulates you on obtaining a class and has seen fit to reward you with a name]
[You have been named: Big Boss Kronk]
It was now Big Boss Kronk, and it was the Big Boss; no other Rat was the Big Boss!
Big Boss Kronk screeched in victory before stepping over the corpse of the Skaven that dared to attack him.
Big Boss Kronk was the Big Boss, and no other Skaven stood above him. It was time to get his throne!
Meanwhile, the Patron of the crazed Rat could only lament what he had created; he only hoped that not all of his future followers would continue the path of Big Muscles and Smooth Brain.
…
Meanwhile, the other smooth-brained follower of the God of Games had finally reached civilization, finding himself in yet another frontier city by the name of Clameth.
It’s here where he decided to head towards the Adventuring Guild to sign up and earn enough coins to repurchase his way towards civilization before the demons reached Clameth. It’s here in the city that the murder Hobo received another message from his god and a quest.
[Message: You have done well in escaping the Demons, but they will always be a threat to all of Civilization]
[The God of Games has issued a quest!]
[Quest: Reach Level 15. Reward: Class]
The murder hobo that he was, after getting a copper plate signifying his status as a new and low-ranking member of the Adventuring Guild, grabbed a few quests that dealt with clearing out some of the random monsters or bandits around the city that were causing problems. He'd only get a few dozen copper pieces for all of the quests combined, but that should tide him over for a week or two in an Inn.
He was in the city for less than a few hours before leaving the city and heading right back out to the wilderness, all under the watch of his Patron God who hoped he wasn't rushing into his death with his lack of forethought.
