[God of Games] 6 – Questions

Once the fight cleared up and Bronze Knight left the podium he stood upon to oversee the battle, I made my way to him, having to skirt past several Gods of various shapes and sizes, one of which interested me due to the fact that they looked like coiling lightning along floating stones.

I found said God speaking to Apline and Gero, one of whom looked proud while the other looked indignant.

Waiting for the conversation to end, I waited for the trio to split apart before stepping forward to address the Bronze Knight.

“Excuse me?” I spoke up, getting the  Living Armor’s attention.

His visor swept over me in examination before answering, “Yes, Fledgling God?”

“I was wondering if you would be able to share some tips?” I asked respectfully.

“Tips?” The Bronze Knight asked, a hint of surprise and approval in his voice.

“Yes, Ser,” I responded with a nod and a bow of respect.

“Tips on what, Fleshling God?” the Bronze Knight questioned, tilting its head.

“I couldn’t find anything on how to use Domains or what they are exactly in the Pamphlet I was given. Could you tell me about them?” I asked respectfully.

“They didn’t include that in the Pamphlet? That’s strange…well, no matter, I shall answer your inquiry.” He hummed before continuing,

“Domains are special to us, Gods, and they are our most useful and effective way to attack or defend ourselves against the Enemies of Heaven and other Gods. A Domain is special to each God, and multiple factors influence it. The age of the God, their Strength, the belief of their Followers, the number of Followers they have worshiping them, their Divinity, and their skill with their Domain,” He explained before waving his hand, a sword materializing before his body.

"Many Gods use their Domains to summon simple weapons associated with their Divinities, such as Gods of Harvests summoning Scythes or Gods of Blacksmithing summoning Hammers, though it's not exactly concrete in that matter. I, as a God of Honor, can summon a Sword and Shield, as that is what my religion has associated with me, influencing my Domain. I can also field my Domain into the area around me, summoning champions, constructs, and Civilization. That's another thing to remember: your civilization depends on your religion and divinity. For example, in the earlier battle, Alpine summoned a forest while Gero summoned a clockwork city," the Bronze Knight explained.

"And how do I use my Domain?" I asked, curious.

"Ah, I'm afraid to say that most Fledgling Gods, like yourself, need time to grow and age before they can properly materialize their Domains, and when you do, your Domain will be undeveloped. When you do unlock your Domain, it'll come naturally to you, when I first unlocked my Domain, so many Millineiums ago, I could only summon a sword, I didn't have access to a shield or the more expanded uses of Domains," the Bronze Knight explained, showing his relatively simple sword.

"Thank you for the information. Other than that, I have another question: Are mortal agents our only way to interact with the mortal realms?" I asked, curious. Thinking about the Demon-infested world, I had managed to gain my first follower.

"Ah, now that's an interesting question. Why do you ask?" the Bronze Knight asked with a tilt of his plated helmet.

"In the pamphlet, it said something about the Old Ones corrupting Gods and Demons alike. How could the Old Ones corrupt a God when we are not in the Mortal Realm?" I asked, reflecting on what I read in the pamphlet about the Enemies of Heaven.

The Bronze Knight nodded, "I see your point, while Gods cannot freely enter the mortal realm as easily as the Demons can, we do have some options for descending into the mortal plane via Avatars. The first and easiest option is through a Champion and a large amount of Faith and Divine Energy, we can materialize our Avatar for a time through the Champion. The second option is using various potent artifacts or energy sources through grand rituals. The last and most difficult part is descending forcibly into the Mortal realm through truly massive amounts of Divine Energy; this option, however, typically damages God's soul for a time, forcing them into a deep slumber. Do you have any more questions to ask, Fledgling?"

"That is all the questions I had in mind, Ser, thank you for your time," I thanked the Bronze Knight with a bow.

Meanwhile, in !@#!@, Otis the Beggar, first believer of a new and never-before-seen God, was fleeing for his life across the countryside of the Kingdom, avoiding bandits and demons alike, but not always managing to skirt by undetected. Already, Otis had to fight against a few more Imps that scouted ahead of the Demon army and the Bandits that were not smart enough to have fled before the Demon army showed.

In these...deaths, Otis found that his faith in his new God was rewarded with each kill.

He was nearly as strong as two men and as fast, while being tougher than ever. Otis felt...alive, where before he barely had the strength to move, now he could take on grown men much bigger than him. Then there was the [Looting] blessing the God gave Otis, supplying him with clean cuts of meat from whatever he caught while also providing him with clean...ish items and sometimes even money hidden on the corpses of a few of the bandits he killed.

From the dirty and torn rags he once wore, he was now fitted with some simple furs and armed with a sword. The blessing listened to them at F, but Otis found them to be better than what he'd seen some of the mercenaries have, though it was not as good as some of the better gear some groups and the guards had. Either way, Otis would make do with what he had, as he always did.

Getting up from the small cave made of tree roots that once housed a fox, Otis made a small prayer to his God and moved out, hoping to keep ahead of the Demon army as it continued its invasion across the frontier cities.

It had been only a few years since the rise of the Demon King, and the Demons began to creep out of the South and into the civilized lands. When the Demons started becoming more frequent, the Gods declared an emergency. They started arming their Churches to defend against the Demonic Invasion, their Paladins and Priests proving to be extra effective against the Demonic threat. Even then, there was just not enough to stem the tide, and the Demonic threat only became worse when it was revealed that they could possess and corrupt people from within the cities, which led to a lot of witch hunts and the Churches gaining a lot of power within the Kingdom.

Otis heard and saw that these Priests and Paladins were given special magic by their Gods, but he has not heard of any of the Gods granting the same kind of blessings he now had, nor has he heard of so much power being granted to one believer outside of the so-called 'Saints' and 'Champions.'

Otis, a Saint? He chuckled, ridiculous.

Little did Otis know the Fate that awaited him.
