[Avatar of the Force] 8 – Slaying more Slugs
Added 2025-02-05 05:21:21 +0000 UTCIt did not take long to find my way back to the hidden nest in the gulch where I fought a few K'lor'slugs previously, nearly getting torn apart in the process. My last visit seemed to have riled them up somewhat, as I could count more than a dozen scampering around the Gulch and the nest entrance. Humming in thought, I had an idea of how to draw out a few of the smaller ones, though I was worried that I might accidentally draw all of them to me, so I'd need to be cautious and ready to run.
Taking a deep breath and exhaling, I made my way down to the side of the gulch, stopping just before it.
Crouching down, I looked over and, with a bit of focus, grabbed a nearby rock and tossed it at the gulch's wall on the other side of the gulch, making a loud noise. Just like before, it got the attention of all the Slugs, and while they charged toward the noise, I grabbed another rock via Telekinesis and threw it closer to me with much less force.
Just as I was betting, a few of the Slugs that were falling behind heard the noise and turned around, rushing towards the source, where I awaited in ambush with my sword ready. Hiding behind a rock, I waited and waited until one came running around the corner, and in that exact moment, I used Telekinesis to throw a wave of Force at the Slug's legs, causing it to fall face first into the sand where I was already pouncing with my sword thrusting down into its skull, instantly killing it.

Barely even glancing at the two notifications, I threw out a Force Push, surprised by the much more powerful wave of Force that launched from my hand into the two other slugs, throwing them back.
Pulling my sword out of the slug, I rushed towards the other two who were on their backs trying to get up.

Not a moment later, I had thrown the five new stat points directly into Widsom once again, raising my Mana regeneration and capacity.
Not wasting a moment, I hurriedly began dragging the three carcasses away while the scent was still downwind and away from the nest and other slugs, but at any moment, that could change as the wind changed direction, and it wouldn't take long for the Slugs to come charging after me like bloodhounds, but then I stopped.
I could use this.
I started dragging the three bodies away, huffing and groaning with an effort at how heavy they each were until the carcasses were up away and out of sight. I had no doubt that they'd get found sooner rather than later with their smell, but I was counting on that.
Tearing off a few pieces of flesh, I rushed back to the sight where I killed them and laid down a small piece before turning around and making a trail to a nearby area along the cliff wall. The area where I dropped this last piece of meat? A small gulch I passed by before I found the nest. At the top of this hill? A rather large boulder I could push to crush everything down at the bottom of the hill in the small divet of another gulch.
That's if the slugs had a strong enough sense of smell to track down the scent of blood I left them.
So, I waited, and I waited, and lo and behold, they finally showed.
It was an entire group of the slugs, numbering in at least a dozen in number. They came chittering and screeching as they ran down into the hole before stopping before the torn flesh.
Waiting for them all to enter into the gulch, I finally pushed the massive boulder, using all of my strength, weight, and leverage. At first, it did not move, but with continuous effort, I managed to push it enough to start rolling by itself, and roll it did, right into the centermost slugs, crushing them all and leaving several of the smaller ones alive who managed to scamper out of the way in time.

Not even able to react to the column of messages, I dodged to the side as one of the Slugs that survived charged forward and leaped after me.
Throwing a moderately weaker Force Push into the slug in the air where I was a moment before and sending it flying down to the ground disoriented, I focused on the other remaining Slug that was also charging me. With a simple dodge and a thrust, my blade went right into the slug's skull, easily killing it.

A minute later, I had slain the remaining slug.

With twenty points for free allocation, I threw five points evenly between Strength, Agility, Reaction, and Intelligence. The first three were to give me a better chance when fighting, while intelligence was to increase my overall mana capacity.
With the allocation, I felt a sudden surge in strength and a strange change in my motor controls, feeling as If I suddenly became more dexterous. Even my reaction time was noticeable, as it felt as though the world slowed down, yet not at the same time.
Taking my time to butcher the carcasses using my sword, I quickly realized that soon I'd need to get a backpack or something to help me carry more or, at the very least, some rope or equivalent I could use to tie the carcasses together and either drag them back to the temple or tie them together and haul the carcasses back. Grabbing everything that I could carry, forgetting about the two Slugs I killed first before making the trap, I started making my way back to the Academy, checking out my status and new skills while I was heading back.
