[Avatar of the Force] 6 – Valley of the Sith Lords and Leveling Up
Added 2025-01-05 04:11:30 +0000 UTCI will admit, heading down into the Valley of Sith Lords so soon may have been foolish; why? Because I had no idea where I was or where I needed to go. I grabbed one of the more simple bounties available. I had to hunt a K'lor'slug and return with its corpse as intact as possible. The reward was twenty-five credits, not all that much, but it would be a start and a good example of the difficulty of some of the tasks.
From playing the game years ago, I did remember that the K'lor'slugs wandered about the structures that littered the Valley and around them. Seeing as that was only in the game, the bugs likely had their own hives under the surface everywhere, seeing how numerous they were in the game.
I had been out here for at most two hours, but I had run into all sorts of creatures and even a few Acolytes out hunting or training against beasts and one another. None of them noticed me, or so I think, but I have kept my distance, not wanting to anger the Acolytes out here and get murdered for no reason.
...
After more than three more hours of exploring the valley, I think I finally found a K'lor'slug Hive, or at least a few that were out hunting. It was a miracle I even saw them as they were scurrying in and out of a hole in some rubble. It was likely a nest or collapsed tomb, both not good, but if I had more tasks relating to the K'lor'slug, I could likely keep coming back here.
A few K'lor'slugs were outside the hole, digging through the dirt and sand. There were only four, but while three of the K'lor'slugs were small, one was freakishly large, even bigger than a man.
They were fast, but not as fast as me. If I could somehow distract the large one, I could slay one of the smaller ones, grab its corpse, and flee before the other three could react and give chase.
At the moment, I was crouched on a cliff, looking down upon the slugs. The rubble was within a tiny little gulch between the mountainside formation that made the eastern side of the Valley and the rock formation I was couched upon, leaving the rubble mostly hidden except by those who may find it.
Making my way down, I looked around, finding a big enough rock that I could levitate and throw with Telekinesis through the use of the Force. I just hoped that this would work or I'd have to do something much more dangerous.
Once I was close enough to the slugs, to the point that I was worried they might notice me if I lingered for much longer, I focused on the rock in my hand.
With a breath of air out of my lungs, the rock levitated out of my hand and into the air.
Taking a deep breath and putting great focus on the rock, I threw it with all the force I could manage into a boulder on the other side of the gulch, making a large thunk echo across the gulch. That got the attention of the slugs, who skittered towards the noise, away from where I stood.
I took the chance, running towards the slugs from behind, catching the attention of the smaller ones while the larger one rushed towards the boulder far faster than its smaller kin.
As I enclosed on the smaller K'lor'slugs, I noted the wide round maws filled with countless serrated teeth, the serpentine and worm-like bodies, and the tiny legs that made them seem like horrifying creatures the size of large dogs.
While the closest one lunged for me, I threw the strongest push I could with my Telekinesis toward its legs, making it stumble as I raised my blade and plunged it directly into its head.

[You have leveled up!]
I had to back up as I pulled out my sword, one of the other slugs lunging past where I was previously standing, rolling across the ground.
The other two K'lor'slugs were not far behind, and with two more swift pushes, they missed as well.
Before I could reach down to grab my prey, the first K'lor'slug was already back up and lunging for me.
I raised my sword up in the card, catching its maw on my sword.
Grunting, I threw the K'lor'slug to the ground and plunged my sword into its skull.

Seeing the larger K'lor'slug rushing back, I didn't bother to pull the sword out, instead using the blade to lift the corpse over my shoulder and running past the two K'lor'slugs lunging for me.
Running as fast as I could, I ran for what felt like ten minutes before slowing down, feeling like I was going to collapse, and looking at my status after making sure I wasn't still being chased; I found I was near the mark.

My stamina was getting very low, and if it reached 0, I would have passed out. I learned that the hard way with the training. I also learned from the training that if I was exhausted and didn't get enough rest, my SP wouldn't regenerate past a certain point, making it to where I got tired much easier.
Taking a moment to pull my sword out of the K'lor'slug's mouth, I adjusted my grip on the slug's carcass and started making my way back to the Academy.
As I made my way back, I opened my status, finding that I had gained five free stat points after leveling up, five points that I allocated straight into Wisdom, raising my MP.
I figured that if I could raise my MP regen high enough, I'd be able to use Telekinesis sooner and for longer. Combine that with Meditation, and I should be able to eventually recover my Mana capacity to full after a short time after every future battle. However, that may become an issue in the future if I don't have the capacity to use the Force for long.
It took about two hours of walking, but when I did get back to the Academy, Korriban's red sun was beginning to go down. I was able to give the carcass to the Droid, who would ensure it was delivered, and I left for my quarters with my credit reward and to think it was only enough for a few crappy meals.
Tomorrow, while I could have picked up a few more of the bounties and requests, I figure I'd instead use the day to train as much as possible; I want to see how fast I could level up my skills if I focused on just one of them. Which skill I'd level up would need to be determined, though I may have had a bit of a bias towards Force Manipulation and Meditation.
