[Force Avatar] 1 – Unwilling Acolyte of the Sith

Synopsis: Awakening in a foreign body days before he was to arrive at the Sith Academy of Korriban, a man, now a boy, would come to realize that not only did he recognize the new reality he was in, but he also realized, he was not the protagonist. He was a slave that rose to the position of an Acolyte, and if he wanted to survive what was to come and possibly return home, he’d need to become strong.

Luckily for Val, he discovered that he had a 'quirk' that would assist his rise in the Old Republic and, if he lived long enough, cement his legacy in Star Wars.

[A/N: Author Notes at the bottom]

With a shake and rattle, the two dozen men and women of varying species dressed in black robes shook within their seats as the ship they sat in breached the atmosphere. Some of the people whispered in fear, some prayed, others cried, yet one among their number sat in silence, a grim expression on his face as he readied himself for what was to come.

He was a Sith pure-blood of 18 years of age, and he, Val, was not supposed to be here, for he was once human. A human of Earth, a human from a different reality. Yet, he was here, an 'aspiring acolyte' of the Sith Empire. His body was malnourished and weak, for he was but a slave a few days ago until a Sith discovered he was force-sensitive and sent him to be trained at the Academy upon the old Sith homeworld, Korriban.

Even now, he felt the repulsive, sick, and hateful energy of the planet below.

It was 3644 BBY, a year before the main characters of the Old Republic online game were destined to appear, and that meant that Val had a year to train and try to 'graduate' the academy, becoming an apprentice under a master or passing the 'test' that an Acolyte could take once a year to become a 'Knight.'

Once a Knight, Val was to be assigned to the army, where he would face 'traitors,' 'Jedi,' other Sith, and so much more.

If he wanted to live to see the end of this war, then he had three options: become as strong as possible and rise through the ranks in the military and Sith hierarchy, become an apprentice to a Sith Master, or defect to the enemy side, the Jedi. However, such an option would not be viable if what happened to most traitors and even Darth Revean were any indicator. He did not want to live out his days in a prison being tortured by either the Sith or the Jedi, nor did he wish to undergo an 'Ego' death as his personality and memories would be wiped away and replaced.

...

As the ship shook as it landed on the surface of the cursed planet, I sighed. With a deep breath, I stood up as the ship's bay door lowered down, revealing the ominous Sith Academy and Valley of the Dark Lords. The planet reminded me much of Mars, instead much more red, evil-looking, and featuring a breathable atmosphere.

Waiting down outside the ship was a human male in dark and red robes, arms behind his back, shoulders straight, and two lightsabers strapped to his waist.

I was one of the first to exit the ship, with a few falling behind and one stuck in their thoughts, fear evident in their expression and posture. The Sith waiting for us snarled, his hand raising, and from the lone girl who was stuck on the ship, a light blue Twi'lek, who began crying as she reached for her throat, her body rising in the air from an invisible force as the Sith before us chocked her and pulled her to our group before slamming her body down dismissively before focusing on us.

"Welcome to Korriban, Acolytes," The Sith welcomed us, his expression haughty and arrogant as he looked upon us like we were ants to be stomped beneath his feet, "You are all here today, because one of us," he pointed at himself, "thought you had the potential to become a Sith, but from where I stand, I could already tell you that most of your group will not live to see the end of this year," he glanced at the Twi'lek, who climbed to her feet, "But! Maybe one or two of you will. We...instructors at this academy, will mold and shape you to become worthy weapons of the Empire and cull those among you who proved to be too weak," he spat before continuing, "Until the time you pass the graduation test a year from now, or find yourself a Master, you will spend everyday training and honing your skills until you bleed. While we won't directly interfere with whatever path you choose, such as becoming an Inquisitor, a Sith Warrior, or even an Imperial Agent, you will be required to complete a task from the task board at the front gate each week," The Sith motioned with his hand to the Academy behind him.

"These tasks will range from hunting down a lone Tuk'ata, a Sith Hound, and bringing its head back as a trophy to interrogating a prisoner in the Dungeon for information. Failure to complete a task will result in punishment," the Sith smiled, "Upon three strikes, three failures, you forfeit your right to be among the living and will be executed! At the end of this year, you may attempt to take an exam where your skill will be tested! From your lightsaber forms to your force techniques, all will be measured, and if we find your skills acceptable, you will officially be given the rank of 'Knight' and graduate from the academy. Should you wish, an instructor for each path will be available for a fee each day, of course," I felt the others around me shift and shake; most of them were afraid, but a few of us kept our composure, trying to stay calm.

"For now, you will each be placed in quarters with one other in your group, in which you will be given the day to rest before your training begins. Come tomorrow, and I expect your group to be ready at dawn in the training hall, where I shall spend the week teaching you all how to reach out to the force and use its most basic techniques. After that, it will be all up to you. Whether you train in the training hall, out in the Valley, study within our library, or do something else, I do not care. Now, follow me. I will lead you to your quarters. Decide amongst yourselves who you will be staying in which rooms, and, as a warning, if one of you fails to appear at tomorrow's lecture, all will be punished," the Sith smiled, turning about face and slowly walking towards the Academy.

I was the first to follow, the others not far behind, as the Sith led us into the Academy. There, we passed by droids of all kinds, other Sith ranging from guards, soldiers, and instructors to acolytes like us in their simple black robes with simple blades on their persons.

Our instructor led us to a wing of the building where many doors lined the long labyrinthian passageways before stopping.

“These will be your rooms. I will see you all tomorrow,” the Sith smiled, walking away with a glint in his eyes.

He didn’t tell us where the training hall is…or anything else about the Academy…

Not bothering to talk to any of my fellow acolytes, I stepped into the room before me, claiming it as mine while the others decided their own room. I was going to end up bunking with someone else, but as long as they don’t cause problems, they can proceed as they see fit.

As the door closed behind me, my eyes swept across the simple, spartan room that was to act as my quarters while I lived here. There were two beds on both sides of the room, a meditation mat, and a desk and chair, all made of some metal, giving everything in the room a gray color. There were also simple chests with a few more black robes in case we needed to change clothes. In the middle of the room, on the wall opposite the door, it seemed to be a more unadorned bathroom for us to bathe in.

Sighing, I walked to the left side of the room and sat down on the bed, which was firm but not all that comfortable.

I could already see that I’d have terrible sleep tonight, but that would only worsen as the door opened, revealing my so-called roommate for the foreseeable future.

The Twi’lek. Sigh, God damn it…

Hearing my sigh, the Twi’lek girl shifted uncomfortably and kept her eyes to the side, avoiding my stare. “That side of the room is yours,” I said, my voice sounding deeper than the one I had before.

Not bothering to talk more, I relaxed and let my body fall to the bed. I’d need plenty of sleep for tonight, and there was no point in staying awake.

As my mind began to drift to sleep, my eyes glanced at one of the few good things about this new life of mine.

[Author Notes]

This is, of course, an AU, primarily for creative purposes to give myself more leeway and more angles to work with while generally sticking close to lore and timeline when found.

A 10 in an attribute is considered the modern average for an adult male on Earth. For example, a two in Focus would be a child's attention span, while a perception of 6 would require glasses, or a vitality of 3 would leave one always sickly and struggling to overcome most illnesses.

As for calculations, if you are interested in that kind of thing:

VIT: +2 HP, +2 HPR, and +1 SPR

END: +5 HP, +3 SP, and +0.25 HPR

INT: +2 MP and +0.25 MPR

WIS: +0.5 and +1 MPR

EXP = Author bullshit. I'll assign an EXP value to how hard I think the MC had to fight for the battle instead of making a long and or complicated math calculation.

Attributes were ripped off from Randidly Ghosthound, as I feel it is, to date, the best attribute variety and the most comprehensive.
