Monstober: Summon - Process
Added 2020-10-11 18:54:28 +0000 UTCFhew, nearly didnt finish this on time, but you can guess why I originally thought I'd just post a WIP version and finish it later-- A theme month challenge isnt the best time to get deep into a piece.
But here we are! Struggled initially quite a bit, trying to find a sketch that spoke to me; there are like 5 other tries that I didnt save.
Hmm and looking back on the coloring/rendering process, I think my problem is that I overthink it too much - that ceiling-light source really didnt have to be that strong - I shouldve paid more attention to the values before adding lighter blue-tones. The brightness of the ceiling distracts from the summoning circle. I gotta figure out how to keep saturated colors more limited to 1-2 hues, instead of making everything evenly saturated too.
I went back one last time as of writing this to try and lessen the blues a little bit, but I've been color-adjusting for the past hour or so, now, so I'll call it a day and try to remember for next time!
