Jakkai info page 2024 (beta) [updated 7/12]

Hey everyone! I am writing this to let you know that the new and improved Jakkai info page is now live:

Anyone with that URL can see the page, and I really don't mind if you want to share it with your friends. The reason I'm sharing it with my patrons first instead of announcing it to the world is that it's still technically a work in progress. I want your feedback first, if you have any to give!

Do you have any other questions about Jakkai that you would like me to answer on the page? I can't guarantee that I absolutely will answer your question, but it helps me to know what other people are curious about. I want this page to be a helpful guide for people making their own OCs (original characters) and to help flesh out the world of Slightly Damned a bit.

I have ambitions to fill the page with more art by myself and by other artists in the future, but that will be a long-term goal. I'm just going to have to add to it over the years.

In the meantime, here's another important thing I ask of you: do any of you have Jakkai OCs that you would like me to add as examples to the bottom of the info page? I want to show off a variety of Jakkai!

Here's what I need from you:

•  Email me at chu@raizap.com with the subject line "Jakkai Info Page OC"

• A picture of your Jakkai OC and their name

• Your chosen display name (anonymous is OK) and a link to your social media or other URL of choice (also optional)

• The name of the artist who drew it, a link to their URL of choice, AND their permission (required unless it's a drawing by me). I need their permission because it will be displayed on my website that collects ad revenue from visitors, so it's the right thing to do.

You can recommend your friends to participate, but I can't guarantee that I can accommodate everyone. It really depends on how many responses I get and how nice I can make it look on the Slightly Damned website.

While creativity and diversity are welcome, there are some limits. I want to display Jakkai that could realistically appear in the comic without confusing people. For example, my friends and I know a certain Jakkai who's fused with an ice dragon and looks really cool, but... well, I can't put that on the info pages because ice dragons don't exist in Slightly Damned, and that would confuse people. We gotta stick to the lore.

I plan for the OCs at the bottom of the page to be accompanied by a message clarifying that all the races of Slightly Damned are technically an "open species". That means that people can draw, commission, or otherwise create any kind of art that they want of their Jakkai, Demon, or whatever OCs. Yes, that includes adult art. I'm not here to judge!

However, I draw the line when it comes to licensing and merchandise.

That means that making a Jakkai OC does not give one the right to make merchandise of that character for sale: no selling prints, stickers, body pillows, or whatever. That would be copyright infringement. If you're just having something made for your own personal enjoyment, and it isn't for resale, then it's fine by me.

I also ask that you try to point people in the direction of Slightly Damned for the origin of the species if at all possible, like asking the artist to include it in the description of their upload or something.

[UPDATE 7/12/24] Thanks to everyone who responded to my post and offered their feedback and corrections! I put a lot of work into reorganizing some information, formatting it to make it easier to read, and adding a table of contents. I also reworded some things, added some new information, and added more images and references to the main comic. Lastly, I added the OCs of the people who emailed me! I think I am starting to feel done with it, but I would still love to hear more suggestions!
