Honestly, it felt to me like it NEEDED to take this long for some form of movement to happen. Neither this Jaune nor Phyrra are people who stand down when they get their hackles raised. The insult thrown at her by that one guy on the other team knocked her out of her inert state, and this conversation with Weiss basically did the same to him.

2026-01-22 10:22:59 +0000 UTCHe was getting frustrated by her lack of communication, and getting triggered by past issues. Her not thinking of him as an equal partner is more a catastrophizing speculation on his part. Weiss's possible explanation gives Jaune some context that he was desperate for. It reminds him that she has baggage that is affecting her, and not being a mere manipulative woman like his past relationships.

2025-12-25 22:50:26 +0000 UTCAbout the fight, the first thing I wanted to note is that with the prevalence of AOE attacks in RWBY remaining in a small group isn't really any better or worse then splitting up. Just different issues really. Second, the Altesian team seemed to spend a lot of time standing around doing nothing. The first exchange the Vacuoan team engaged 3 opponents, while the fourth Altesian basically did nothing for a while. Then the whole entire team shifts into a line to dodge an attack like they are all psychically connected, and none of the other team take advantage of them taking the time to do that, yeah, the cat girl gets hit, but two other people again stand around doing nothing. Basically it's an issue I see a lot where the since a writer can only describe one engagement at a time, the uninvolved people seem to just stand around doing nothing. In a 4v4 fight like this, anytime you have multiple people engaging one person, or reacting to one person, that means some opponents are free to act. Basically while the Vacuaons were more organized, they only really stomped their opponents because they literally got more actions. About the conversation with Weiss I don't really understand why the realization the MC arrived at makes a difference in the problem? I thought his issue was that she didn't consider him an equal and didn't feel like he deserved an explanation. I don't see how knowing she thinks she is doing the right thing and doesn't care about his opinion of it makes any difference, wasn't that basically what he assumed in the first place? This really seems like a rephrasing of what he assumed in the first place, so I don't get how it's useful.

2025-12-25 06:02:43 +0000 UTCAnd Jaune didn't even have to magically age up to be as old as her father before she gave him the time of day too!

2025-12-25 00:08:20 +0000 UTCWell in canon, she was a bad teammate, received criticism, reflected on it, and then made a conscious effort to do better and did. That kind of character growth is seemingly absent for the other characters, except for Jaune and his asking for help from his teammates arc.

2025-12-24 23:49:59 +0000 UTC... You mean like the original conversation, they had in private, which didn't work, or any of the other times they were in private, where Pyrrha still refused to address the issue?

2025-12-24 22:00:04 +0000 UTCWeiss continuing to prove best girl status throughout nearly all iterations of RWBY fanfic I've read, huzzah for communication and problem solving, but I do hope we get some resolution to this next chapter from what happened in that previous round where pyra’s friend basically verbally smacked her for being dumb

2025-12-24 21:34:57 +0000 UTCJaune and Weiss seem to be ignoring the obvious. If its a public relations issue, then talk in private. Actually in private as in, not in front of other people?? Pyhrra practically said it twice in this chapter. “Not here” “not now” as in, not in front of people? Jaune trying to force the conversation multiple times in front of others seems to have made things worse. Its not a matter of “Pride Chicken”, where whoever breaks first loses or whatever. It’s a matter of not airing the dispute in front of others, aka public relations. Have the conversation in private, and I think that will actually work.
