Long time no project update, so I thought I'd start with what's been cooking for a long time.
Many of you may remember the numerous animations I used to do with Syron in the years past, It's been something I really want to get back to but without the hassle of doing everything by hand and with more flexibility and dynamics. I've also wanted to cross into learning 3d Properly (both for work and for personal projects). In (january?) I started trying to remodel Syron after several several failed attempts at doing so and it finally started to move forward.
It's been many busy months between work and home life so I was only able to start finding more time to invest in the rig, which turned out to be one of the hardest choices for a first-time 3d model as Syron's concept has evolved significantly over the time of not drawing him.
Syron, now 3d and about half-way into rigging, is coming to life with the intent of an animation showing off how he mechanically operates with some flair. He now keeps his crystals mostly-under his jacket sleeves which gives the look of a semi-normal outfit, but upon activating, he blows his sleeves off with the crystaline shockwaves and partially destroys his surroundings. This was a concept that only goes so far with descriptors and still images, so I'm choosing to animate the sequence instead.
shiny! You can tell this makes his rig somewhat complicated (and I mean very complicated), so he's taken months and months to make. This said, I also plan to present the rig with an additional bit of flare, which is my own music, if at all possible. He's probably a few days out from posing fully, with another few days (maybe a week) of constraining the rig). From there its some material fixes and maybe some actual animating?
With it being my first rig, I also want to make the file available for download if you all want some animation fun with him as well. Huge project, not usually what I post, but it was time I started learning some new things.
Thanks for support, this is something I really hope you all look forward to, as if anything should get you excited, its me returning to the music-spectacle animations I used to do, but with everything I now know thrown into the mix.
Until next time~
