Some of these creatures, including colossal crustaceans, roam and feed on the Abyssal energies from the lingering waves of the Maelstorm. With these migratory patterns being easy to predict, many of the Surface-dwellers have used it to their advantage for hundreds if not thousands of years. The ancient monk temples of recluses who spiritually worship the Abyss are often found nestled on the backs of gigantic hermit crabs wandering the mountainous crags in remote locations.
While these monks now live in harmony with the creatures, battlescars of Abyssal combat litter the immense carapaces as memories from eras washed away by the flow of time."
